The holidays are in full force! We have had Thanksgiving, and Christmas is only a few weeks away. With all the fun the holidays bring, they can also bring stress. Here are my top 5 ways to stay stress free during the holidays.
1. Make Lists:
It’s the perfect time to run around like a chicken with it’s head cut off. You have all these to-dos in your head. There are presents to buy, food to make, parties to attend. My top suggestion is to make lists and use your planner. Make a few, whether on pen and paper, or on your phone or computer. Write down everything so you have a plan and can schedule what needs done when. Maybe you can make a plan for an early morning shopping trip and get things done on many lists because they’re in the same area. By writing everything down, you will clear up some of your mind.
2. Make Working Out a Priority:
I know, I know. This is such a busy season that it’s hard to find time. I totally believe that this will help you stay stress free! Get in a 30 minute workout. I highly suggest early mornings. Make a goal to wake up early and work out 3-4 mornings a week so nothing can get in your way after work. While you’re at it, get yourself some new apparel or shoes to motivate yourself even more.
I was recently sent the new Mizuno Wave Rider 21’s to test out and I could not wait to give them a whirl. I’ve gone running with the kiddos outside as well as done some treadmill runs in them, and I am highly recommending them. I am not typically a Mizuno fan. I’ve tried out their other Wave Riders, and while they always worked for me, I couldn’t rave about them to others. But with these, I can!
These are a great neutral show for the beginnings or the advanced. Maybe you need them for the few runs a week you do with the kids or by yourself (like me!), or maybe you’re marathon training. Maybe you haven’t run in a while, or maybe you have been running for years. You will love these ones!
From the Mizuno site:
We are transforming running once again with a redesigned Wave technology for softer cushioning, and an enhanced responsive feel. Mizuno’s Dynamotion Fit features a breakthrough in “Triple Zone” engineered mesh for breathability, movement, and hold when it is needed while running.
If you aren’t a fan of buying yourself gifts before the holidays, put these on your Christmas list and get in a run on Christmas morning
3. Get your shopping done early:
This can be tough, but I highly recommend it. Holiday shopping is stressful in itself. Add in the lines, the crowds, and the traffic, and I get such a headache (plus I live right by the mall in our area so it’s always packed!). If you finish shopping early, you don’t have to stress out about getting shopping done or be out fighting those crowds.
4. Give yourself some “me time”
Maybe this is a manicure, a pedicure, or a facial. Maybe this is a glass of wine at the end of the night, a dinner out, or some magazine reading. Whatever it is, make sure you are relaxing yourself.
5. Eat fruits and vegetables- continue your healthy eating:
Don’t forget to eat healthy! It’s the perfect time for Christmas parties and luncheons. It’s easy to snag a donut that someone brought in, or all those cookies in the break room (or even at home while you are baking!). It’s not realistic to pass up all of those (or worth it!), but limit yourself. If you have a cookie, don’t go for the donut. If you know there is a party tonight, eat a smaller lunch. But, make sure you are including fruits and veggies to help you feel your best.
