My favorite blogs are ones that I can relate to. I read a lot of blogs every day, but they all differ. Some are DIY blogs, some are fitness, some are life, and some are food. I love learning about the blogger, and especially love seeing a post and realizing I begin thinking of what it might mean in my life. This would be what happened when I read Julie’s blog last week. She has been doing a little series on questions called the “10 Day You Challenge.” Every day she has posted these questions and her answers, I think about what my answers would be.
One of my favorite questions so far has been “Six Places.” She wrote about her six favorite places in the world, and I knew I absolutely wanted to share my answers, so here goes! Some of mine happen to be similar to her answers, but some differ.
Deep Creek Lake, Maryland
I have been going to Deep Creek since I was born, and I couldn’t imagine my summer without it. It’s one of my favorite weeks of the year, and the memories my whole family makes while there is what it’s all about to me. We share food, clothes, beds, and make due with whatever we have. We spend the days on the boat, and nights together playing games or catching up. This is the only place where my family comes from all over the US for (Texas, Oregon, Virginia, Delaware).
My Parent’s Kitchen Table
Some of my favorite conversations have happened around my parents table. When I still lived at home, we would be done with dinner, but sit around and talk for, sometimes, up to hours. Now that I am not at home, I love the moments when we eat dinner there and stay sitting around chatting. The conversations flow but nothing feels forced.
Cuddled up with Aaron and Benson
I should add with my heated blanket to this statement, too. There is no greater feeling than unwinding at the end of the day with Aaron and Benson in bed. I’m not sure why, but it’s definitely different than being on the couch. We don’t have any TV on, but will talk about things that might have passed us by during the day, and just be together. It’s my favorite.
The feeling I get after a run is unmistakable. I live for these moments and love exploring new trails around here or in new areas. Not only do I get to do one of my favorite things, but I am exploring a new area as well. Whether it’s two miles or ten miles, my day is infinitely better when I am running.
On my Boat
You saw this one coming, right? During the winter I live for the day we put our boat in, and then dread when it comes out. There is nothing like laying out on the boat, leaving problems behind on shore, and just being free. The wakeboarding, skiing, and tubing is all fantastic, as well, but just having that outlet of somewhere to go. Like Shelby mentioned last week, it’s like a vacation every time you step on it. You are away from your typical life and you feel like you could be hours away.
When the weather warms up, I love sitting outside and just being out there. I can’t wait for our deck to be done to sit out back, but for now, I am loving my chair out front where I can sit and think, work, or just be. With this one, I also enjoy sitting around a campfire, with family or friends. Some of the best conversations happen there.
