There’s something special that happens at Pittsburgh weddings that you may never have heard about. I never knew it was a Pittsburgh thing until I started planning my wedding, and people kept asking me. I would say “of course I am having it at my wedding.” What exactly was it?
A Cookie Table!
Have you ever heard of a cookie table at a wedding? Ever attended a wedding that had not only Wedding Cake, but also a cookie table for you to enjoy? I haven’t been to a wedding that didn’t have one for years, but again, I’m from Pittsburgh, where apparently it is typical!
This past Sunday, I had family members come over to help bake over 1,000 cookies for my Wedding. My mom started at 7 am, I started at 8, and family started arriving after 9:00. We had over 10 different kinds we wanted to make (I think 12), and made about 3 batches of each!
I can’t even begin to thank everyone for coming over! We were able to whip batches up super fast, and were done by about 4 or 5 in the afternoon. My mom thought for sure we would’ve been baking more this week and next week because we wouldn’t get to all of them. But we did! All the cookie have been made, and are being stored in our freezer. My family and friends better come hungry to our wedding! I’ll let you in on another secret.. we have a candy table, too! Between cookies, candy, cake, hors d’oeuvres, and dinner, there shouldn’t be anyone that goes home hungry!
Now, only 7 more days until we can eat all of the cookies! I know last year we made way too many for Jenn’s wedding, but hopefully we made a good amount for ours. Surprisingly, I didn’t eat one cookie or any dough last weekend! The cookie lover in me was just so focused on getting them all baked, I forgot to even sample! Oops
Have you ever gone to a wedding with a cookie table?
If you are married, did you have one?
If you aren’t married, would you consider having one at your wedding?
