In between all the marathon festivities, we had a packed weekend. It also happened to be a special someone’s (Aaron’s) birthday on Sunday! It was definitely a weekend I don’t want to forget, so here’s a bit of a recap!
Right after work on Friday, Aaron and I headed down to the expo, which I’ll be sharing about.
I mean, how do I pass up this onesie!
Industry Public House, Lawrenceville:
Knowing Aaron’s birthday would be a bit of a wash out for him, I told him he could choose dinner on Friday. Lawrenceville isn’t close to us at all, but it was close to the convention center where the expo was. He originally chose some other restaurant, but we found this while searching and headed in!
Aaron knew it would be a good one with the beer list. There were open windows, seating outside, and it was quite big, with lots of room around the bar. We sat right down and enjoyed an appetizer of nachos, with a beer for him.
I went with the Buffalo Chicken Mac n Cheese flatbread for my meal and it was so, so good. I only ate two pieces of it as those nachos really filled me up, but it was delicious.
Aaron went with a Burger that he loved. He said it was very delicious, but I didn’t try any of it.
We left pleasantly full!
After the half marathon on Sunday, Aaron and I headed to Waynesburg University for Rachael’s graduation. Let’s just say my legs hated me for the hour drive, two and a half hours of sitting, and hour drive home. It was totally worth it, though!
Side note, whoa, where’d that belly come from! Some days it appears and some it doesn’t, I swear!
Aaron awoke to a banner and his gifts in the kitchen. We decided we weren’t doing big gifts at all this year. With everything coming up, and neither of us really wanting anything major, we are keeping it low key. I got him a six pack of beer and a chain for his pocket watch he loves.
We both took off on Monday and were up early to head to breakfast. I was up for a few hours beforehand, and decided we needed to stop at a new (to us) bakery in Mt. Lebanon. I am on a mission to find a delicious chocolate chip cookie at a bakery, but this was definitely not it. I went with a cinnamon pretzel twist (which I didn’t finish) and Aaron went for a donut hole. Both were fantastic!!
We finally made it to breakfast. We had heard this restaurant was delicious and it was! We didn’t have a wait here either (it was a Monday morning after all) and we were able to snag a seat outside in the beautiful weather. I went with a build your own oh-my-latte, with bacon, cheddar cheese, and green onions, and a side of hash browns. I’ve never seen so many colors in hash browns! There were definitely sweet potatoes in that mix, but it was all really good.
Aaron went with their Magic Monday special. It was a waffle with bacon and cheese inside it, topped with bacon and cheese and a fried egg. He could not stop raving about it! I tried it, but I am honestly not a waffle person at all. I wanted to like it, but I just couldn’t.
Waffles INcaffeinated is located in South Side, which happens to be along the river. We decided to check out the new docks they just put in and went on a little trail walk. This was not planned, and wearing wedges while walking the day after the half was definitely a bad idea. It was worth it, though, as the walk was really good at stretching out my legs!
The rest of the day included cleaning. A lot of cleaning. Honestly, the past two/three weeks have been so so busy every single day and our house was really let go. I was happy to have the time to clean up. I also had a doctors appointment, a date for ice cream with Bridget, and Matt came over for dinner. It was a great ending to our weekend!
So tell me,
What did you do this weekend!
