If I could choose the best Valentine’s Day I’ve spent with Aaron, this would be it.
The day began with a 6 mile treadmill run, with about 2 miles of pick ups in the middle. I really wasn’t worried about a workout and thought I might get it in later on or Sunday, but I woke up at 7 wide awake. While Aaron snoozed, I took advantage. This week has been some tough treadmill runs- I just want to run outside- but this run was so great. I felt so good.
After cleaning up, we decided to face the snowy conditions and head to breakfast! The snow started when I began my run, and came down fast. There were already a few inches on the ground by the time we went to breakfast.
We headed to Pamela’s Diner in Mt. Lebanon.
I went with the Tex Mex Omelet, but opted for ham instead of Chorizo. It came with cheddar cheese and salsa, and was topped with sour cream (a bit too much) and guacamole. There were potatoes on the side (Aaron and I only ate about half) and two slices of Italian bread (never ate them!) I really enjoyed my breakfast! The omelet was so good.
Aaron opted for the Croissant French Toast. It was croissants soaked in cinnamon vanilla egg batter and topped with sauce and nuts. They were really good!
We were honestly in and out in about 20 minutes! Service was quick and we were both starving. Since we were out and above, we finished errands we needed to run, with our last stop at Giant Eagle.
We arrived home and built our first fire in our house! We never made one last year, and took full advantage. We had it burning from about 11:30 until 9! I loved sitting by the fire.
Watching the snow come down, snuggling on the couch, and having a fire going was the absolute best part of my weekend.
Of course, spending time with my boys is up there too! Due to how bad the road conditions had gotten- we had quite a few white outs throughout the day- we were happy to not have to venture out. Originally, we were going to get some Pizza to go with our dinner, but I’m so glad we didn’t end up doing that! Aaron and I both worked on make Shrimp Bisque. My dad makes it a few times a year, and it is one of my favorites! We wanted to do something special for Valentine’s Day, without going out to eat for dinner, so this was perfect!
We both were stuffed after this, but of course we left room for cookie cake! Pretend half of the cookie cake hasn’t been eaten by now… oops!
Throw in some movies and TV and that sums up our day. To some, it may look boring, but to us, it was everything we wanted!
