Was your weekend consumed with all the Olympic events? Ours was, but also with a lot of other fun things.
We had decided to keep A up for the beginning of the opening ceremony, so I made her a torch that she could wave around. She painted a paper plate yellow, and a toilet paper roll and tissue paper completed the look. We also made some Olympic Rice Krispy Treats, and had popcorn out of an Olympic torch as well I didn’t think the ceremony was anything too great, though. A asked if we could turn it off at one point, ha! She said “I don’t like this. Let’s watch something else.” I told her no she could go to bed instead, ha!
Saturday morning I slept in and then everyone else was up shortly after. We enjoyed a slow morning, and then my mom picked up the kids around 11 to go to their house for the day and night. Aaron and I left right after them and met my brother and my SIL at the Escape room. Shelby (my SIL) and I got tickets for our grab bag present this year, and we finally made it work. Oh my gosh, it was a blast! Honestly such a fun time.
We headed over to Condado Tacos after we escaped for some lunch before heading to the Remodeling Expo. We both actually want our bathrooms done- ours is going to be a complete gut but theirs just needs a fresh update. We got some ideas and wondered around before returning home. It was honestly weird to be home with no kids and no sound machines telling me they’re sleeping! We did some shopping at Trader Joe’s, Burlington, and Kohls before making our way home for the Olympics.
After sleeping in until 7, I made my way through a workout, showered, had breakfast and then did some cleaning and grocery shopping before finding my way on the couch to watch, you guessed it, more Olympics before the kids returned. I also went back to Burlington to exchange the dress I bought for a different size, and finally found an ottoman we both liked. We’ve been searching for a while and just didn’t find one we thought would work, but this one seems great! The kids already love it- A to jump off and Nolan to walk around, lol.
The kids napped and I started this post while dinner was cooking in the crock pot. I had hopes to get outside for a walk with the kids, but the rain came just as the kids woke up. Darn. Instead, I attempted photos for Valentine’s Day for A but she got a scratch and it went down hill. Aaron and A made some fresh lemonade, and we rounded out the evening with an early bath and rolling around on the floor with both kids tackling us.
It was so nice to have a break from the kids- sickness and the cold has made for some major cabin fever!- but man did I miss them! I swear A aged a year over night, ha. She was just so excited to come home to us, and I was thrilled to have both of them home! So far we’re 2/2 for date nights once a month this year!
