Annabelle is about 21.5 months old now, but I wanted to recap (what I can remember) the last few months!
I truly believe Annabelle knew things were going to chance shortly after she turned 18 months. She began to only want me to put her to sleep at night, would scream if I left, and was totally attached. I (being totally emotional at that point) gave in because I couldn’t stand the thought that it was our last time before baby 2 came and I missed it. She went through some really early mornings and her naps were around 1.5 hours, sometimes 2. She became so independent and really started to see her grow.
Month 19 was all about her becoming a big sister. She was fully prepared by reading all the big sister books we have, and she really had a strong liking to baby dolls! She was so into putting them to bed, picking them up, wrapping them, feeding them. This has continued, but it was really strong between 18-19 months.
Nolan came during this time and she handled it all so well. She said bye to us and was happy when my mom had her when we went to the hospital. She was the first person to come see Nolan. My parents had her for 2 days and then she came home to us. Now, the first couple weeks, she was so into him and happy. Then, I think it hit her that he wasn’t going to be leaving, and she wasn’t so happy with us anymore. She still loves Nolan and is obsessed, but she started not listening to us, saying “no” all the time, throwing tantrums. Stuff she totally shouldn’t and knew she shouldn’t. Our doctor did warn us that she would get mad at us, and for the most part, we’ve been okay with it. It is hard to have it seem like your daughter hate you, but I’d rather it be us than Nolan.
The past month has been full of fun and challenges. She naps about 2 hours a day, sometimes more and sometimes less. Her listening is still not as well as it was, but I guess it’s preparing us for those “Terrible 2’s” Tantrums are in full force and she totally knows when she is doing something she shouldn’t and smiles at us. In fact, she’s actually said “hand” to walk us away and then runs back to do what she shouldn’t. It’s hilarious but also terrible. She thinks she should have her own way all the time, and we’re definitely working on it.
Annabelle is a champ at eating. She got through her picky phase and eats almost everything, as long as there is a “dip.” We usually give her a bit of ketchup or Ranch and she’ll eat it. We try to reserve that for things she may not totally love but it gets her to eat them (like hamburgers). She typically has milk upon waking, breakfast around 8/8:30, lunch at 12, snack around 3:30, and dinner at 6. Some nights she doesn’t eat a big dinner and asks for a snack, and some mornings she doesn’t eat a ton at breakfast and then asks for a snack. I try to limit snacks so that she is hungry for meals, but she definitely needs one between lunch and dinner. She eats whatever we eat and is getting a little better with vegetables, though fruit is her favorite.
Annabelle’s vocabulary took off out of no where. She says hundreds of words, and has some hilarious phrases and words. She has been saying 2 or 3 word phrases, but has started really saying what she wants and doesn’t. She answers yes and no to questions, also. Delicious, Oh Jeez, Ahh man, Rats are some of our favorites. She sings songs like “Open, shut them”, “Wheels on the Bus,” “Pat a cake,” and can sing the alphabet! That is fairly new but I love listening to it. She can count but not always in order, lol. She definitely has 1-2-3 down, but then we can have some foggy moments. She loves to play trains, in her kitchen, and to read books. We read books a lot.
Annabelle has gotten so good at manners, not to brag but really I’m impressed! She says please when she wants something (we sometimes have to remind her) and thank you when she gets it. She says “Bless You” when she hears you sneeze, too. It’s adorable.

Annabelle is so fun and we love our days with her. It’s adorable to watch her interact with her brother. Sometimes she is jealous and only wants me when he’s awake, which is understandable, but she loves holding him, tickling him, laying beside him. I love watching them already have a friendship. She lights up our lives and I just love seeing how she grows daily!
Can’t wait to see you keep growing and all you learn, baby girl <3
