Feel free to skip down below for the vacation part of this!
HERE’S WHAT ELSE BABY BROWN HAS BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK:
- More than 11 inches
- Weighs over one pound
- Her lungs are developing
- She’s starting to hear and recognize voices
AND HERE’S WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING WITH ME THIS PAST WEEK:
Weight gained: 14 lbs as of my appointment last week.
Workouts: Hmm, some strength training and a spin class. We also walked on the beach Saturday and Sunday.
Symptoms: Acid reflux, tired, thirsty, achy back while traveling. My pelvic pain has subsided, though I still feel it sometimes.
Movement: All the time. As I was laying on the beach, Aaron was just watching her go crazy in my stomach. She punches and kicks and you can see it all!
Food Aversions: Veggies are hit or miss. One night the broccoli wasn’t done enough and then I couldn’t stomach it anymore.
Food Cravings: I had the strongest craving for a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich on the way back from the Outer Banks. We stopped at Sheetz and I satisfied that craving, haha. Other than that, it’s been anything cold, honestly. I did want tacos one night last week, so we had those.
Sleep: Not the best while away. I woke up a bit and my back was really sore. Other than that, it’s been better. I haven’t dealt with insomnia for a few weeks, but I do still wake up early.
Maternity clothes?: Yep. I’m on the hunt for more tanks and shorts, but without breaking the bank. Geez it’s crazy how much all the maternity clothes adds up- and I even received a lot from my cousins and friends!
Stretch marks? No new ones. Just the ones I had from years ago that I feel like are more pronounced, but only I can tell.
Miss Anything? Sleep on my back and stomach. I still sort of sleep on both front and back but not totally. I also missed the open bar at the wedding, ha!
Fun & Weird Stuff From the Week: It was so fun to get away with Aaron! More details below! It’s also fun and weird to see kicks on my stomach, ha.
Belly Button in or out? In but more flat.
Wedding rings on/off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy. There were a few moody parts during the week. When we weren’t at the beach and it had been 9 hours and we were in traffic, I wasn’t the happiest, haha. When I get moody, it just happens for a few minutes then I get better. It’s typically when I want something and don’t want to wait for it, ha.
Baby Items Purchased: The ceiling fan for the nursery. The chair rail was also purchased but isn’t up yet.
Looking Forward To: The summer! Just excited for some nice months and vacation with the fam before we welcome our baby girl.
When I knew we would be heading to Kitty Hawk, NC for Emily’s wedding, I also decided it’d be a perfect getaway for a little babymoon. I had loved this idea, but due to expenses, I knew we wouldn’t be going on a different trip just the two of us. We had a great time with just us. It won’t be us for too much longer, though I’m so excited to have a little one to bring on all of our adventures! We already talked about how much fun it’ll be having ours go to the beach.
With that being said, here’s a little recap of all that we did. We started driving Saturday morning, listening to Serial the entire way (we finished it), stopping at Bojangles for lunch (along with about 4 other places for bathroom stops #pregnancyprobs), and making it to the hotel at 5. We immediately headed to the beach for a walk. Our legs needed some moving! We hung out there for a bit, played some Frisbee, and then I bit it in the ocean.
Funny story. I went for the Frisbee, and raced to get it before a wave came crashing. Well, the wave hit and I am a bit top heavy these days and completely fell flat into the ocean! HA! I was completely fine, and my hands caught me, but it was hilarious. I had my bathing suit cover up on too, so I was a big sandy mess! We called it quits after that and went back to get ready and head to dinner.
We went to a few different places trying to find someplace without a long wait (it was about 8 now and we were starving!). We landed at Hurricane Mo’s and it was delicious. Aaron went with the Fish Tacos, which I went with the Virginia Pasta, complete with shrimp and crab with red peppers in a Cajun cream sauce. We also shared the crab dip appetizer! We actually didn’t finish any of it, with more than half of my dinner left, one of Aaron’s tacos, and about half the crab dip. It made for a delicious lunch on Sunday! We finished the night with a swim in the pool before hitting the sheets.
I ended up taking all the cheese off. There was wayy too much, taking away from the actual crab dip.
Of course we had to find a beer place while down there! This man loves his beer.
Sunday morning we headed down for the continental breakfast. It was a huge spread of pancakes, sausage gravy and biscuits, bagels and muffins, coffee, eggs, ham, turkey sausage, yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, and cinnamon rolls. I went for a bit of everything, ha, minus the sausage gravy and biscuits, which happened to be Aaron’s favorite. We made our way to the beach for a walk after that, and came back to change and head to the beach for the day.
It was the perfect beach day. The temps were in the mid 90s and the sun was shining. The ocean itself wasn’t the best as it seemed to have almost dead jellyfish pieces everywhere? I would go in to cool off but couldn’t put my arms down without feeling it and getting grossed out, ha.
I also managed to find a comfortable way to lay on my belly Just gotta dig a hole in the sand!
We left around 3 to get ready for the wedding. Monday morning we woke up, ate breakfast and hit the road. It was a short trip but honestly it was perfect. We had the best time together, chatting about all the things. We really treasured this time together. It also made for two exhausted people on Monday, ha.
