HERE’S WHAT ELSE BABY BROWN HAS BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK:
- She weighs about 3 lbs.
- Annabelle’s brain is growing even larger
- Her eyesight is continuing to improve but it won’t be great for a little while after birth
- She’s the size of a small cabbage
- The lunago is beginning to disappear. This was used to keep the body warm and was soft hair covering the body. Now, she’s growing enough fat to regulate her temperature.
AND HERE’S WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING WITH ME THIS PAST WEEK:
Workouts:. Not too shabby. I can tell things are slowing down, though. I just require some extra rest these days, which is fine. I also notice my workouts are becoming shorter because that’s what I can do at this point. Lunges aren’t the most comfortable thing right now. I’ve been trying to keep up my lower body and upper body. I do lunges but I just can’t go down quite as far. And squats? Well, it’s funny how you can’t get that low with a belly in the way! haha
Symptoms: Restless legs, acid reflux, rib pain, difficulty sleeping, peeing all the time. Basically the usual. Food isn’t sounding great to me and I don’t eat as much as I used to but I try to eat more often. I’m just not as hungry as I was. I also have pelvic pain still and lots of pressure.
Movement: So much. I love watching her move around and trying to figure out what body parts are where, haha. Aaron gets so excited when he puts his hand on my belly and she starts moving and kicking for him. She doesn’t kick quite as much anymore just because she’s running out of room.
Gender: Girl <3
Food Aversions: Food in large amounts. I just can’t stomach it. I’ve also found that some food just doesn’t taste the same as it used to.
Food Cravings: Watermelon. Not too much else. I can never decide what to eat when I’m hungry. I typically go for a snack at 8:30/9 at night and spend half hour to an hour trying to figure out what to eat. Aaron just laughs at me. I usually end up going with cereal.
Sleep: It’s alright. I try to go to bed by 10 but that doesn’t mean I’m asleep by then. I also wake up numerous times a night. If I look at the clock, I’m up for a while. If I can avoid it and keep my eyes closed, I typically sleep better. I’m more exhausted come the end of the night. I wish I could nap during the day, but it doesn’t happen with work. By the time I get home, I’d be napping at 5 and that would definitely ruin my sleep!
Maternity clothes?: Yep. PJs are just a size up and tank tops are a size up. Yoga pants are still pre-pregnancy along with workout clothes. However, I’m slowly expanding in the workout clothes! ha Oops! I’m trying to get away with not buying anymore. Thankfully Pinkblush came through for some cute options!
Stretch marks? Nope, not yet! Still applying Tummy Butter every few nights. I wish I could say every night but #I’mlazy, ha.
Miss Anything? Laying on my back, a good heart pumping workout, not having pain whenever I stand up, not being winded walking up the stairs. For real, I can workout and do well, but walking up the stairs? It’s like I ran a marathon.
Fun & Weird Stuff From the Week: It has been fun seeing her move around so much more. It feels like my stomach is spazzing out sometimes (is that normal?!) but it’s fun to feel her moving around. I can tell just how much bigger she’s getting!
Belly Button in or out? It’s weird, ha. It’s like the top of my belly button is slowly covering the belly button? I’m not sure but from clothes it can sometimes look like it’s an outie. I do think it’ll be an outie soon.
Wedding rings on/off? Still on I hope they can remain on for the pregnancy. I hate the thought of not wearing them as I’ve never taken them off unless I was in the water skiing or something or they were at the jewelry store!
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy thinking ahead but this week has been quite emotional. These hormones are killer. I cry at the smallest thing and it’s so hard to stop! haha I’ve also developed a cough and slight cold so that is rough. Some nights I cough so hard I am about to throw up.
Baby Items Purchased: Hmm, I bought a Halloween onesie, we got baskets and bins for the closet, built the shelves in the closet. I’m trying so hard to hold off on buying any clothes until after my shower! I also need to make a list as to what we really need to purchase before she arrives.
Looking Forward To: My shower next week! My mom has put so much work into it and I know it will be great. Unfortunately it’s in the middle of summer so lots of people are unable to come due to other parties or vacations. Totally a bummer but I understand! I didn’t want to wait until September to have my shower so this is the price I pay!
Last week I realized I should probably get on the ball and take some classes before having her. Honestly, I feel pretty confident in handling newborns as I’ve worked with them many times in daycares and also have many cousins. However, I have absolutely no idea about labor! So I got to searching classes my hospital offered!
After looking at all the options, I chose what I thought we needed the most.
Labor and Delivery 1-2-3– This class is 3 hours, as opposed to the 9 hour class. This will cover knowing you’re in labor, what to expect, how long to wait before calling, and what will happen with delivery and after. I’m excited to hear what to expect! This class is September 15
Introduction to Breastfeeding– I know many people who breastfeed but obviously have no experience. I wanted to take a class to know what to expect in the moments after birth trying to breastfeed as well as real life stories of how hard it can be. Plus, I don’t know how to use a pump (though mine is ordered!) and would like to before I need to use it! ha Aaron will also be taking this class with me as the dad needs to be supportive and has a role in breastfeeding as well. This class is Sept. 14
Birth Center Tour- one of the things I love about our hospital we chose is that you labor and deliver (unless it’s a C-section) in the same room. It’s pretty large, too, and you just feel more comfortable staying in the same room. However, I would still like a tour and to see the nursery and see everything again. Aaron and I will be doing this September 9.
As you can see, the classes aren’t until September. They are about a month before my due date, which I feel is enough time. I thought about taking them earlier, but then I don’t want to forget anything. I think a month will be plenty of time. Who knows, these could be a waste of time, but they are all in the evening so it’s not like it’s taking up a weekend day. I’d rather be more prepared than have no idea what to do!
