Whew, how’d we make it to 38 weeks? I won’t lie- I kind of thought she’d be here early. There’s still time, but I’m not sure if she’ll come early or not anymore. I had my 38 week appointment on Monday and everything looks good. Lost a pound or two, but that’s common at this point. I am 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced, so who knows what that really means, haha. You can go into labor and be further along or not that far along, so this doesn’t really mean anything. Maybe next week I’ll be close to labor!
HERE’S WHAT ELSE BABY BROWN HAS BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK:
- She weighs close to 7 lb and measuring 20 inches long
- Her development is nearly complete as she is just shedding the skin protecting vernix and lanugo.
- She’s adding fat and fine tuning her brain and nervous system
AND HERE’S WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING WITH ME THIS PAST WEEK:
Workouts: 5 walks, 2 strength workouts.
Symptoms: Oh just everything, haha. Round ligament pain, groin pain, acid reflux (though better), rib pain, restless legs at night, cramping, back ache, Braxton Hicks, headache. Now, it’s not like these are all together! haha Just things I’ve experienced over the week.
Movement: Less jabs, but more rolling around. I can feel her knees, elbows, feet.
Food Aversions: I just don’t want food, or much food I should say. I basically make food and then eat it regardless if I want it.
Food Cravings: Ice cream, dessert, cookies, sweets!
Sleep: Eh, I’m up during the night usually for at least an hour. Sometimes I’m up super early and can’t fall back asleep.
Maternity clothes?: Just a few things that still fit, haha. I don’t have much for the fall wardrobe, so I’m just layering up.
Stretch marks? I don’t think? Like I’ve mentioned, I had some on my hips from going through puberty, so I know those have remained, but I think that’s it.
Miss Anything? Lots, haha. Not having a big belly, putting shoes on easily, laying on my back, no rib pain, clothes that fit or are loose on me.
Fun & Weird Stuff From the Week: It was pretty fun knowing the next time I’ll see my mom’s family I’ll have a baby in my arms!
Belly Button in or out? Folded over.
Wedding rings on/off? On. I really haven’t had much swelling in hands or feet.
Happy or moody most of the time: Eh, emotional? I’m just ready to be done being pregnant and get into a new routine. I am happy, but I’m also exhausted and by the end of the night, I’m just done for.
Baby Items Purchased: None! I finished up her wash and am ready for her to arrive.
Looking Forward To: Holding baby girl in my arms!
What’s in my Hospital Bag:
I made notes from everything people told me and from what I’ve seen on Pinterest. I talked to other mom’s, and I finally packed my hospital bag. Actually, I packed most of it about 2 weeks ago, and the last minute things aren’t packed, but mine, Aaron’s, and baby girl’s bags are all packed! Here’s what I put in them.
- Flip flops
- 2 nursing bras
- nursing tank
- Yoga pants
- zip hoodie
- Going home outfit (leggings and a sweater)
- Body wash
- face wipes
- toothbrush/toothpaste for Aaron and me
- Prenatal Vitamins
- Brush – last minute
- Make Up- last minute
- Straightener- last minute
- Hair Ties
- Bobby pins
- Water bottles/Gatorade
- Lanolin Cream
- Breast Pads
- Deodorant for both of us
- Pair of Jeans
- 3 t-shirts
- PJ pants
- Going home outfit in newborn
- Going home outfit in 0-3 months
- Sleeper in newborn
- Sleeper in 0-3 months
- 2 hats
- 2 pairs of mittens
- Breastfeeding cover
- 3 burp cloths
- 2 receiving blankets
- Blanket my gram made her
- Baby Book
- Cord Blood papers
- Video camera and camera with batteries
- Phones + chargers
- iPad (maybe)
- Nurse’s baskets
It looks like I packed so much for myself, but I don’t really feel like it. It’s more little things that I had to pack than big things or clothes. I really did well with keeping it minimal with that stuff. I may not use my make up, shower things, or straightener, but I’d rather have it packed. We actually just have three bags- two and then the diaper bag, which I didn’t think was too bad!
