After a few less than stellar weekends due to the weather cooping me up inside, this weekend was beyond marvelous. The weather warmed up on Saturday to 49! and Sunday up to 40, but with rain. I had a pretty packed weekend, so let’s jump in!
Thanks, Diva, for hosting!
After some grocery shopping and dinner, I headed over to my friend, Jenna’s house to just chill out and relax. We had plans last weekend, but those got tossed aside with the snow. We typically head out to some restaurant, but I was in the mood to just hang out with her and catch up in a comfy place
I started the day with a fantastic run on the treadmill (still snow outside even though it was warmer), before starting our day. We refueled with some delicious pancakes, and shortly after, headed out. My mom’s family was all meeting for lunch for my aunt’s 86th birthday! We went to the Olive Garden, where I partook in the Soup, Salad, and Breadsticks.
After lunch, some of us headed back to her house to have some cake and talk some more. As you can see, the table was huge, so I never even talked to the ones at the far end! haha
On our way home, we quickly picked up Niko from doggy day care. With all the cold weather and the rain they were calling for, Matt put him in there to have some fun and burn some energy. It worked and it was exhausted!
Not long after arriving home, Aaron and I were off again to go meet up with my brother and his new girlfriend for dinner at Claddagh, which is an Irish restaurant. I don’t do well with eating out frequently, and do even worse when they are consecutive meals. Combine that with being picky, and I ended up with pretzels and beer cheese for dinner, ha. Aaron had some Guinness Mac and Cheese which I did have a few bites of! This was really the first time I have talked to his girlfriend, as the last time was at a wedding when we were dancing. It was a great time, but they were off to meet up with other friends, and so were we.
Chocolate Martini for the win. Can’t even taste the alcohol.. just the chocolate
On our way home from there, we met up with our friends who were out watching the Pen’s Play. We didn’t stay too long, but have you ever seen a smoke stack shot? Our friends got one, and it was quite different, ha.
Look closely, and you can see she’s lighting cheery flavored wood chips on top. Basically, it’s a shot of Jameson, then wood chips placed on top and lit on fire, with a cup placed over top. Once the smoke has completely vanished, she twisted an orange peel in, and ran it on the sides of the cup. They both really loved it, but I can say I will never have one. Ha. Not one part of that sounds appealing to me
Whew, after a busy night, we were up early again to head to a new church to try. If you remember, Aaron is Baptist, and I am Catholic, so we are trying to find a new church we both feel apart of. We were invited by some friends to try this one, but unfortunately, things weren’t like a normal service, so we are not sure if we will like it. With all the churches we’ve tried, it seems every one has been a “different” service when we come. They try new things, don’t have a pastor, switch things around, etc. So, we are still on the hunt! Hoping to try this one again next week, though.
After a quick stop to Target to pick up some food prep essentials, Aaron and I came back and got to work. I have to say, it is so nice that Aaron understands how important food prep is. He knows it happens on Sundays, and helps me in any way. He really grasps how important it is to having a healthy week and knowing things will be smooth at night to get ready for the next day. I also made a few dips for the Superbowl last night!
With some usual weekend projects happening too, we finally sat down and watched the Kitten Bowl, and the Puppy Bowl. I loved the kitten bowl more! Benson wasn’t too excited, and slept through the whole thing.
Before we knew it, it was time to head to our friend’s for the Superbowl! I just went for the snacks and commercials (even though I thought they were awful), obviously! Haha
Everything was delicious and ended the weekend on a great note! Though these weekends are busy, I love having something to look forward to and do. I will always love hanging out on the couch with my small family, but weekends with things to do are also great!
