It’s Monday again, which means I can talk about my Marvelous run on Saturday! Thanks Katie for hosting, as always!
In case you missed any action over the weekend, catch up here!:
As I mentioned on Friday, I finally bought new running shoes! I decided on Saturday that I wanted to head out for a long run and see how they felt with a longer distance. In my mind I had 8 miles planned, but I didn’t say it out loud in case I made it like 2. I headed to a different trail than usual, which left me running amongst lots of other runners, and on a trail between housing plans.
I headed out with my water pack on me, and just ran. I chose not to use any apps and not worry about distance. Since I had run it before, I had a fairly good idea on where the 4 turn around would be, but as I was running, I realized there were mile markers.
The way out was fairly hard. I had forgotten that the first mile is uphill, and then rolling hills after that. I had a tougher time during this part, but it made the run back pretty easy.
Naturally, I felt like I needed the bathroom about .25 miles in. I made it to around 3.5 miles and was greeted to this:
Gross, whatever, it was welcomed!
Um, I had never tried these before, and they were amazing! First of all, they tasted like Fruit by the Foots, which I miss, and second, I noticed an increase in ability on the way back! There was one hill that was a killer, and even last year I had trouble climbing it. For some reason, I say shot blocks, I crushed it!
How awesome would it be to have a trail in your backyard?
In the end, I covered more than 8 miles, I believe. At the end of the 8 miles, I felt great still, so I continued on to another loop. I was flying high for the rest of the day!
Now about these shoes…
My shoes were amazing. I had used them last week for short distances, but this long run (my first one since last summer!) proved how amazing they are. I love Brooks shoes, and the minimalist shoes are amazing.
Here are some reasons:
1. I love how light they are on my feet, but I know I have cushioning where I need it.
2. One of the new aspects of the Pure Flow 2 was that half of the “tongue” is connected to the shoes. This made such a different, and grasped my foot better.
3. My feet never fell asleep in them, like they do in other shoes.
4. The arch support was great. It wasn’t too much, but I definitely knew it was there!
5. No body part hurt while running! I say this is because of the shoe
In the end, I couldn’t find any complaints for these shoes. I don’t think I could ever go back to running in any other type, and I am fine with that! If you need new shoes, I say try these out! They definitely helped in my run, and every time I finish a run, I want to run again!
What was one marvelous thing that happened during your weekend?
Did you get any run in this weekend? Any races run?
What do you look forward to during your workouts/runs?
This post is strictly based on my opinions. I was not compensated for any of it. I simply love the shoe, and am so glad I found them!
