I had an unexpected short day at work on Friday, which led to an early weekend start. I walked into work and it smelled like sewage, and as I walked downstairs to my office, I saw we were flooded. There was no way to work there, so I was told to leave a couple hours later (I was able to do some work). That worked in my favor because I was able to get to the grocery store earlier for my groceries for this week. We had a snow storm predicted, and I wasn’t sure what food would be left after I was finished working. The store was packed, but I made it out with everything I needed!
I came home and Aaron had the kids at the library, so I made lunch for the kids when they got home and then got in this leg workout. I was dying. They arrived home when I had a few minutes left, we ate lunch, and then they took a nap. Aaron and I enjoyed a few hours of silence, before we rallied for round two of the day and the kids woke up. It rained all afternoon as the temps dropped, but A had a blast outside in her rain gear! ha Dinner was a pizza, and I watched Bad Moms Christmas with some wine after the kids went to bed. Wild and awesome Friday night!
Saturday morning I woke up to about 6 inches of snow. It was switched from pouring rain during the day Friday to freezing rain, to snow. That meant everything was ice, with snow on top. After a slow morning, in which the kids actually played nicely together and I could hang out on the couch drinking my tea for a few minutes, I dug out my car and defrosted it before shoveling the driveway a little bit later. Our street wasn’t plowed until almost lunch time. Annabelle and I also did this workout.
We really just made the most of the snow day, playing around inside, reading tons of books, before deciding to build a fire during the kids nap. I made a quick trip to Target during naptime, before coming home to roast marshmallows with Annabelle in the fire, make fish tacos for dinner, and then start this post while hanging out on the couch.
Sunday was a cold one, and A decided to sleep in until 8, which was much needed. She has been waking up early this past week, and I couldn’t figure out why. Friday night, Aaron discovered her bottom 2 year molars were in! No wonder she was waking up. Anyway, she was starting to get an attitude with her lack of sleep, so her sleeping in was huge! We all dressed in our Steelers gear, my dad came to visit us, and Aaron and I ate buffalo chicken dip while watching the game (but let’s just talk about how delicious the buffalo chicken dip was, mmk?).
We rounded out the weekend with Emily and Bennett coming over to play and have dinner with us. Win win! We made this 5 ingredient Cheesy Ham, Broccoli, and Rice casserole (SO good).
Such a great weekend, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say cabin fever is starting to set in. We’ve had a lot of plans lately be canceled due to sickness, and we haven’t been able to go anywhere because pretty much everyone we know is sick! My mom and brother both had the flu last week, and I’ve heard its so terrible so we’re doing our best to avoid it. But, it’s just not easy entertaining two kids in the house. We can only play with toys so much. Thankfully my mom is better, and we are headed over there this morning to get a new scenery.
