This week for Trainer Tuesday, I wanted to incorporate a variety of cardio. Sometimes I can’t fathom 40 minutes on the treadmill, or a half hour on the elliptical. It seems unreachable, and boring. Not anymore. One of my favorite ways to switch up a workout is to hop on and off machines.
With this workout, you will complete 4 circuits. Each circuit is 10 minutes, and the last one is your choice of which of the other three to complete. Circuit number 2 has you off the machines, and onto a floor, or an empty space.
Circuit 1 will be completed on the treadmill, circuit 2 away from machines, circuit three on the elliptical, and circuit 4 will be a repeat. For circuit 2, complete each exercise for 50 seconds, and rest for 10 before the next one. Those 10 seconds are really enough to get in place for the next exercise.
As always, I appreciate any constructive criticism you may have!
So there you have it! Four circuits, 10 minutes each. Your 40 minute cardio blast will be over before you know it.
***RPE means rate of perceived exertion. Treadmill speeds can vary, so make it a speed that you aren’t dying at, but you can no longer carry on a conversation, either.
Does switching it up make a workout go by faster for you?
