Hi friends, how was your weekend? Can you believe it’s already Monday?
I’ll admit- I say and put date nights on my goals list every month, and as part of my goals for the year, but they honestly happen less than I’d like. It’s hard to find babysitters (we’re not really comfortable leaving both of them with someone we don’t know…) and then when we are both working, we do love being with the kids after. But, we really want to make more of an effort because we finally went out Friday, and it.was.great.
My mom came over around 5:30 to take over with both kids. This is the first time anyone had to handle bedtime for both, but thankfully Annabelle is easy and Nolan is predictable at this point, so it wasn’t too hard for me to leave. I honestly have such a different feeling leaving kid #2 vs. kid #1. With Annabelle, if she didn’t get to bed at a certain time, life was over. With Nolan, I figured she’d get him to bed eventually, or he’d be up when we got home, no worries. Let’s be real, with two kids- I practically ran for the door!
So anyway- Friday afternoon, I did my hair, put on make up, and got ready for date night.
Anyway, we decided to go to Southern Tier Brewing on the North Shore first. We weren’t sure where the night would take us but Aaron got a few beers to try, and we split pretzels and beer cheese for an appetizer.
The menu didn’t call to me and we had heard good things about Bingham Tavern on Mt. Washington, so we headed up there after drinks and apps. My favorite restaurants are ones that serve bar food, and this delivered! Aaron ordered some wings and tacos, and I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. The wings were delicious (of course I had to try them), and my wrap was really good. I opted for curly fries instead of chips, which was a fantastic idea. I also ordered a White Russian. Ahh-mazing.
We really enjoyed our time out, the kids survived, and I’m sure my mom slept real well that night after handling both kids, ha! When you aren’t used to it, things get crazy!
Saturday morning, I met my mom and Bridget for Burn Bootcamp! We did so many burpees, rope slams, lunges, squats, medicine ball twists. I was a puddle of sweat. But, I made it home, changed, and took Nolan to my friend Kayla’s bridal shower. It was so beautiful! We couldn’t stay too long because it was about an hour drive, so I was hoping to leave when Nolan needed a nap. We spent the rest of the afternoon playing outside before heading to church.
Sunday morning was supposed to be a boat day, but it was 58 degrees in the morning so we opted for a relaxing morning. I did some meal planning, Aaron took Annabelle grocery shopping, I did some organizing in our bedroom, and had a slow day. After dinner we went to the mall play area for Annabelle to run around somewhere new, before ending the weekend with popcorn and Secret Life of Pets.
She was closing her eyes counting for hide and seek with two other kids there! So cute.
Whew, this weekend was crazy packed, but so fun! I’m ending it on the couch watching New Girl with a cup of tea. Perfect!
