There were so many of you who wanted more Day in the Life Posts when I took the survey, so I’m here to deliver! My days are pretty different depending on what school I’m at, but for the past 3 weeks, this is what it’s looked like.
5:45: first alarm is blaring. Apparently the ringer was the highest it could go. In an effort to lower it, I accidentally hit snooze. I set the first alarm because Benson always jumps up to snuggle when the alarm goes off. Today is no different. He’s up and snuggled on my belly.
5:53: Snooze goes off. Crap, that’s annoying. Benson jumps up and begins playing with me. I wasn’t a huge fan of being bit on and having him run in circles on me, but I was pretty much already awake.
6:00: second alarm and I have to get up. Head to bathroom, put make up on, do my hair, change.
6:20: All done, head to the kitchen.
Make tea, toast English muffin, microwave turkey bacon, and cook 2 eggs.
6:30: Benson is patiently waiting for his food, too. I feed both of us.
I pretty much eat an English Muffin Breakfast sandwich every day. I used to be on an Oatmeal kick, but these are just so good, and easy! My breakfast comes together in less than 10 minutes every day, including getting everything out, and cleaning up!
English Muffin Breakfast Sandwich:
- Toast English Muffin
- Cook Turkey Bacon (I microwave mine to save time)
- Scramble 2 eggs.
- Assemble eggs, cheese, and bacon on English muffin. I choose to microwave mine after for 20 seconds so the cheese melts. Easy and delicious!
6:33: Sit down to eat breakfast, drink my tea, watch the news, and read some blogs. Also end up playing with Benny because he is full of energy this morning!
6:50: Brush teeth, do dishes, grab phone, give Benny treats and go to work. Grab banana to eat on the way to work.
7:20: Arrived at work, head down to classroom, get situated.
7:20-8:30: Misc. paper grading, paper copying, trip to office, and such on my prep period. Start this post, too.
8:20: Finally eat the banana I was supposed to eat on my way to work. Oops!
8:30-10:46: Teach Understanding Children. This class is one where the high schoolers take over as teachers and 3 and 4 year olds come in for preschool. The preschool program hasn’t started but the students are working on their lesson plans for the semester.
10:46: Supposed to be my lunch, but I can’t fathom lunch this early. Instead I do more grading, get things ready for the afternoon, read some blogs.
11:11: I have another prep period so I eat now instead. Today’s lunch is a sandwich with bologna and American cheese, carrots and celery, and an apple. I also have cheese rice cakes as a little snack.
12:02-2:20: Culinary Arts. Today we aren’t making anything, and the students are either finishing up a worksheet or watching Master Chef if they are finished.
1:10: I was starving all afternoon. I had half of this pack (there are 2 but I ate one the other day).
2:20: Immediately change into running clothes once students leave. I checked the radar before leaving and showed clear until 3:45. Yep, wouldn’t you know I walked outside and it was raining. Darn.
2:40: Stop at Shop n Save for fresh bread
2:55-3:25: Chat with my cousin Jenn on the phone and play with Benson
3:30: Decide I should go running on the treadmill. My calves were aching all day so I changed my plan from 6 to 4 miles. I did 2 miles at 7.0 then the 3rd mile every 1/10th mile went up 0.1 and then the 4th mile I came back down 0.1 every 1/10th of a mile. Wasn’t ideal but it is what it is.
4:05 Jump in the shower. Put make up on. Dry hair. Drink chocolate milk and have a slice of banana bread. Still starving.
4:30: Fold laundry and make pumpkin bars. Realize I have no time to eat more food.
5:00 Realize it’s 5:00 and get a move on. Do dishes, feed Benny some Pumpkin, make lunches, make cream cheese icing, do dishes again, icing pumpkin bars. Slice Italian bread.
5:30: Straighten hair, finish stuff in kitchen, continue working on this blog post. Man these take a long time to do!
6:00: We leave for Life Group. Life Group is at our friend’s house this week, and we chose to make dinner and bring it to them (Amy just had her adorable daughter, and made dinner for us last week, so we offered this week. Usually whoever hosts deals with the food).
6:30: On dinner tonight last night was Stuffed Shells, fresh bread, a salad, and pumpkin bars. Mmm. Typically we separate and have girls chat, and guys end up chatting or playing darts for a bit. Since I finished this post before dinner, I’ll show you dinner from Monday night. We had tacos and I loaded up!
I used a Flat Out flatbread, topped with cheddar cheese, red onions, plain Greek yogurt, salsa, lettuce, taco meat and black beans. It was delicious.
7:30ish-10:00: Discuss the book of Philippians (we are watching a sermon series on it weekly that takes us through it, then we discuss). We also discuss our lives and anything that may have come up.
10:30: Arrive home, finish this post, and go to bed. Goodnight!
Whew, that was long! My days are almost never that busy. Typically I take a nap in the afternoon or at least lay down, ha.
I’m also linking up with Jen for WIAW! Head on over for other food ideas.
