Looking for something to buy your niece or nephew? Here’s a look into favorite books for a one year old that will surely win you best aunt or uncle title!
Whew, yesterday was a day. How was yours? Did you catch my latest post? It didn’t go up until later and then the power went out. It flickered a few times and then we lost it. Wouldn’t matter too much except Annabelle was asleep… with a monitor that didn’t work… and it was dark out at 5. We went to Subway for dinner and then hung out at my BIL’s house until it came on, thankfully before bedtime! Nothing like no power to make you realize just how much you use it.
When I was pregnant, I remember dreaming about all the days Annabelle would climb on me with her favorite book to read. She’d snuggle in and we’d read books over and over again. I couldn’t wait to pass on my favorites and share them with her. Then, like all dreams do, reality happened and it wasn’t anything like I pictured. I’d try to read a book and Annabelle would toss it to the side. She didn’t care about it and we didn’t read books. I was heartbroken and couldn’t figure out what I did to make this happen!
Then, Annabelle grew up and right around a year, her love of books bloomed. She started going straight for the books and pulling them out. She brings them over. She will sit in our lap and read them. Her love of books grows daily, to where she now wakes up and points to the books and we immediately read them. We read 4 or 5 before bed, too! Here is a list of favorite books for a one year old!
Favorite Books for a One Year Old
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
“A told B and B told C I’ll meet you at the top of the coconut tree. Weeee said D to E, F, G.” This one might be more me, but gosh this a fun book! I actually have most of it memorized, haha.
Llama Llama Hoppity Hop
We started reading this a few months before she turned one and doing the movements it says “Llama Llama hop… Llama Llama Touch” with her and she thinks it’s hilarious.
I Love to Gobble You Up
She just got this from my aunt for Thanksgiving and it’s become a favorite. She loves when I gobble her up with kisses!
That’s Not My …
There are some many of these books from Usbourne out and I love checking out new ones from the library. We own a few, as well.
This is, hands down, her favorite book. She grabs it at least once a night if not more to read. It is also a favorite after nap times and anytime she sees it. She knows to turn the pages, open the flaps, and loves the furriness of the animals.
Baby Touch and Feel
We have quite a few of these and she loves anything she can touch. Aaron actually taught her to put her face on them because they are soft and now anything furry she puts her face on, ha!
Busy Noisy Farm
Ohhh this one. I happened to pick it up in Costco one day and she wouldn’t put it down. I bought it and ended up giving it to her for her birthday and it’s been a lifesaver in the car! There are 10 different buttons for animals that make noise and she loves pressing them!
