Before I begin, I want to wish a huge Happy Birthday to my husband, Aaron! He’s the kindest, most sincere, best dad there is. I’m so lucky to have him not only as my husband, but as my best friend. Annabelle adores him and it makes my heart so happy to see their relationship. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store! I love you!

Alright, moving on to a workout! I love Tabata workouts. They make you work, and leave you sore for days. In as little as 4 minutes, you can fatigue those muscles! Tabata workouts aren’t meant to be an easy thing. It’s not meant to pick up some light dumbbells, work 20 seconds, and rest 10 seconds and repeat. You are supposed to lift heavy and work hard during those 20 seconds.
I chose 12 and 15 lb dumbbells, as well as a 20 lb kettlebell for this workout for myself. I am trying to lift heavier weights these days, and this felt like a great time to do it. The first few rounds you don’t necessarily feel it. Of course the muscles start burning because you are working them, but by rounds 7 and 8, you are ready to be done.
This workout has 9 exercises. You perform each exercise as a Tabata with :20 work and :10 rest, 8 total times (4 minutes). Rest 30 seconds and move on to the next! It should take you right around 40 minutes to complete.
Please remember to lift weights that are challenging to you, but always drop to lighter sets if you feel your form is suffering or you are unable to perform all 8 rounds.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask! As always, let me know if you do it I love hearing your thoughts! I’m off to work and then bake some cupcakes for the birthday boy!
