Happy April Fool’s Day! I’m pretty terrible at this day, so I’m sure many people will trick me and I’ll totally fall for you. Here’s your warning to watch out today 😉
My half marathon is only 5 weeks away! Wow I can’t believe how time is flying. Last week was my second solid week of training. I purposefully made my training cycle only 7 weeks because I had a good base of running, and wanted to make sure I didn’t get to the point where I was dreading running. Right now, my three day running program has been working very well!
Here’s a look at how week 2 went.
Tuesday: Taught Cardio Sculpt. I stuck more to strength training than cardio as per the request of some ladies last week, so that worked for me.
Wednesday: I had a 4.5 mile run on the schedule. I woke up early and got it in on the treadmill! I am loving getting back to these early morning workouts. The run itself felt great. I didn’t push myself- I was just happy to get up and run!
Thursday: I was supposed to do a strength day. However, I got really sick in the afternoon, and called it quits. I thought I had more time after work to workout, so I stayed sleeping in the morning. I wish I would’ve woken up and just done it so I wouldn’t have skipped it. Oh well.
Friday: I had a 6 mile run on the schedule. With a busy night ahead, I woke up early (like majorly early) and got it done on the treadmill. I, surprisingly, felt terrific and was shocked when I looked down and was well past the 4 mile mark!
Saturday: Rest day.
Sunday: Long run! This week was 9 miles. I went from 7 the first week to 9 this week, and will go back to 8 this week as it just worked better that way with the holiday. Let’s just say I was dreading this run. Mostly because I knew it wouldn’t be outside. I had stared at the weather, and it was going to go up to the mid to high 40s, but also wind, and that wouldn’t be until late in the afternoon. I don’t do well waiting until later in the day to run, but knew I had to get it in. I ended up waking up at 6:40 Sunday morning, and decided to tackle it on the treadmill. I read some blogs, then put on Footloose on the iPad and away I went. I try my hardest not to look at the miles or time (I cover it with a wash cloth). I started around 7:15, and at 7:50 I had to go to the bathroom but told myself to make it to 8. Then at 8:20, I figured I should be over 7 miles, but held off until 8:30 to look down, and then I was at 8.3! I pushed it faster on the last .7 just because I wanted to be done 🙂 All in all, it wasn’t that bad!
Total Miles for the week— 20.5 (my highest mileage in a long time!)
Total miles for the year—161.97 miles
Looking back, I’m really happy with the progress and the week I did have. However, I would have wished to get in another strength workout. I’m going to aim for that this week. It won’t be a long one, but just something to make sure I’m keeping strength up at the end of the week. I also hate that all my runs were on the treadmill. This week looks like I will be able to get some outside! Wednesday afternoon should be sunny and in the 50s, and Thursday we have an early dismissal and it should be in the 70s! I cannot wait. Saturday looks terrible, which is when my long run is scheduled for this week. Oh well, win some and lose some!
And now, for a new workout! Sorry it’s a day late 😉
I always add core onto the end of my classes. We spend the last 10 minutes or so on core and the last few on a cool down. I did this one the other night and wanted to share it with you all!
Give It Everything Core Workout
It’s nothing too crazy, but this Give It Everything Core Workout will make those abs work!
Here are the demonstrations:
There you have it! I hope you all have a wonderful day. I have the morning off, but will be back to work this afternoon. It’s supposed to be in the 50s and sunny- hoping to get out in it!
