Hey, hey everyone! It’s finally Saturday, and the day for my next long run! 7 miles is on the agenda for today. I really enjoy the fall weather because it means I don’t need to wake up super early to get my run in! Time for a little more sleeping in, and relaxing in the morning.
A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Marissa to host a giveaway for a brand that touches my heart. I’m sure you have heard of Headbands of Hope, and I was lucky enough to be sent a Black Glitter Band to test out. I LOVE this headband! I have tried it while running, and it definitely stays put, but what’s even better, it’s cute! I actually prefer to just wear it as a headband when I’m going out somewhere instead of running because it is adorable.
In case you haven’t heard of Headbands of Hope before, I’ll explain it a little bit. We all know that, unfortunately, cancer doesn’t just affect a certain age. It wrecks havoc on all ages, and hits a bit harder when it happens to a child. Usually the children are the ones who are the most positive about it, but they still are affected, many times by hair loss.
Did you know ….
- In the U.S., one in five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive.
- Childhood cancer kills more children than any other disease – more than AIDS, asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and congenital anomalies, combined.
- Two-thirds of childhood cancer patients will have a long lasting chronic condition from the very treatment that helped save their lives.
- Worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every 3.5 minutes.
Headbands of Hope works to help girls who are dealing with cancer. With every headband purchased, one is donated to a girl with cancer, and $1 is donated to St. Baldrick’s Foundation. I can’t imagine having a child with cancer, but knowing my daughter might receive a headband to cheer her up makes my heart skip a beat.
I love what this company stands for, and I love that they are working hard to give these girls some more happiness in their day to day struggles. Thankfully I have never gone through Chemo or Radiation, but these children who have deserve all the credit in the world.
Lucky for you, it’s your chance to win a headband! Use the rafflecopter below to enter to win your choice of a glitter, chevron, or tie dye headband!
In case you don’t win, please make sure to check out this wonderful cause and consider buying a headband. Use code lucerohope at checkout for $1 off any headband, and remember for every one you buy, a little girl will receive one, too!
Though I would absolutely purchase a headband for this cause, I did receive this one for free for my review!
