Hi friends! How are we today? I had quite the busy weekend, but it was just as marvelous as it was busy!
Let’s start with Friday, shall we?
After finishing up at work, I dashed to the grocery store so I wouldn’t have to go this weekend. I typically like to go Friday’s because it’s less crowded than the weekend, but it was packed! I thought they were giving things away. Unfortunately that wasn’t true, but I did overhear someone in line talking about a coupon. I hurried up on my phone and found it! Ten dollars off $40 sounds pretty good to me!
After coming home, Aaron and I attacked the house and cleaned it the best it’s been cleaned in a long time. We put away junk and clutter, too, which had just been sitting around. It’s amazing how much of a difference that makes!
That night my old roommates, Nikki, Kayla, and Sam, came over to hang out! I completely forgot to get a picture of us, but it was the best time. We had wine, some yummy food, and laughs! We definitely have to get together more than we do!
I told myself I would sleep in and take advantage of not having major plans. Shocker, I was up pretty early. I made my way to the park to get a run in, which is the best start to the weekend! Honestly, after I finished my training, I was so excited not to have long runs I needed to get to on Saturday mornings and I could just relax. It turns out that I crave those long runs, and really cherish the early mornings to myself. I took note of how peaceful it was in the chilly temps, the men and women out chatting with their friends, the weather breaking for the day, and everything else. It was honestly the perfect start to the day, and I know it set me off on the right foot.
After coming home and getting ready, Aaron and I headed out to Big Lots to do some more Christmas decoration shopping. They had an amazing deal (actually still do until next Saturday if you have one around!) on LED lights. They were only $10 which is the cheapest of anywhere around. We spent $24 on a little more at Walmart last week, so we definitely stocked up on these and returned the others!
The rest of the day (and I mean all of it) was spent putting the Christmas lights up outside. It was a beautiful day, and who knows if we will have any more. We honestly didn’t have any exact clue how we would do everything because we are limited on outlets, but it turned out so well!
I also put away fall decorations and started with Christmas decorations! I’m in the spirit, so I say bring on the Holidays! Our house is still a disaster, but it’ll get done, haha.
We ended out night with a delicious dinner at my in-laws. Everyone was home, a complete rarity when there are 8 of them, so we caught up, picked Grab Bag names, and had lots of fun. I miss having everyone together!
Sunday started off feeling completely overwhelmed with various Christmas decorations that I didn’t know what to do with. I decided to quit, ran some errands, got a run in, did some work for teaching, and felt much better. My mom came over, and we started tackling the rooms and made them look soo much better! I even scored an artificial 7 ft tree at Target for a ridiculously great price! We will get a real one for our family room, but wanted an artificial in our office!
There was actually nothing that could have been better than having dinner ready for us in the crockpot! Tortilla soup, with some biscuits on the side. Mmm.
I was going to show you my soup, but the picture makes it look repulsive, so I’ll save you. It was actually really good, though!
I was getting a bowl out of our cabinet, and a small glass bowl fell out and broke all over the counter and floor. Aaron happened to have the broom out, and came and swept it all up. Let me tell you I haven’t broken anything, let alone glass, for as long as I can remember. So after dinner, I was cleaning out our fridge to take things we hardly use and put it in the basement one. I was walking down the steps, and out of my hand falls the pasta sauce… bounced off the steps.. and splattered all over the basement floor. It was a complete disaster. Thankfully, Aaron came down, got a bucket, and helped me clean it all up. He wasn’t mad at all (thankfully) and we both laughed about it. Seriously, though, I quit after that and sat on the couch for the night. Apparently I was not meant to handle delicate things!
And a good laugh for the day.. We tried dressing Benson up in a Christmas outfit. Turns out it didn’t fit, but he didn’t completely hate us for it!
