Happy Wednesday, folks! Let’s talk some exercise, shall we? More importantly, running. Yesterday’s workout for Best Body Bootcamp called for intervals, which I had planned to wake up and do before school. Plans changed when I woke up at 4:30am and knew I wouldn’t go back to sleep unless I slept in. Combine that with a later night last night (due to my own stupidity on printing response cards!), I decided to fall back asleep.
Of course I felt guilty when I woke up that I didn’t get my workout in. I love starting my day after a great run! Honestly, if I didn’t feel so great after it each morning, I wouldn’t wake up. Fortunately, I was a sub for a PE class yesterday, so I managed to get an elliptical interval workout in, and core. I felt pretty darn good about myself that I could fit that in my prep period!
Once stepping outside from school, I immediately knew I needed to get a run in. I headed home, changed, and went to the park. I loved running at the park; there were so many other runners out, some training for marathons, dogs, kids, and lots of babies! I can’t help by smile as I pass babies in strollers.
I spent 2.5 miles running with music. At the end of the park, I stopped to use the Porta John (totally gross, but drinking 1/2 L of water before a run makes those stops necessary!) and had clicked pause on my music. I couldn’t help but be overwhelmed by the sounds of nature. Birds chirping, dogs barking, cars driving by. I spent the rest of my run without music. I spent that time thinking about things, doing some praying, and just taking nature in! It was so nice to be without music for a change!
My run wasn’t my fastest, nor was it the furthest. I have hopes of getting my distance up and being able to run it with ease, again. Winter always ruins it for me! I swear the first 1 or 2 miles are always the worst! My run had some aches and pains in it (mostly because I really need new shoes, and I will get them this weekend!), but it was a run for me! Being that I already completed a workout earlier, I wasn’t trying to be the fastest person, run a super long distance, or push myself too much.
I ran this run for me.
I’m happy to say I did this. It made me think about how much I love running, and how I don’t always need some goal for it to be achieving. If I run because I want to run, it will never be bad. Hopefully you all feel this way, too!
Now to the good stuff!
I talked on Monday about this Friday being National Pretzel Day (you can still head to their Facebook page and vote on how to celebrate this!) Is there anything that doesn’t have a holiday, btw? Lucky for YOU, Pretzel Crisps has generously offered to give one person one case (12 packs) of a Pretzel Crisp variety pack (sample bags)!
