At 7:07 am, I woke up and quickly told Aaron that Santa came! Clearly I’m a child at heart, still. I would love to say I was just mildly excited, but I was completely stoked. On Monday, Aaron kicked me out of the house for most of the day in order to “build” me something in the basement, which meant I wasn’t allowed in the basement until Christmas. I was very excited to see what it was!
After making some coffee and tea, we began opening our presents, starting with stockings (anyone else always start with those?!). I really enjoyed buying Aaron his presents, and loved watching him open them! Benson went crazy over his toys, too, so we watched and laughed at him for a while. Aaron bought me a few running tops, and a beautiful necklace. After accidentally losing my pendent with pink sapphires and diamonds in it (no clue how that happened since the chain never broke), I had been wanting a new one. I missed wearing a necklace every day, so I asked Aaron for a cheap necklace that I could take the pendant off and put it on my real white gold chain. This one fit the requirements (and was only ike $20) and I love it!
As soon as we finished our gifts, it was time for the big reveal, which you saw the other day. Honestly, I couldn’t believe he got me a treadmill. I loved that he researched treadmills for weeks, and made sure this one was one I would like. The best part was he knew I didn’t want him to spend a lot of money, so he got it for a very good deal on Craigslist! Now I just can’t wait to run on it! I won’t lie; I ran a mile on Christmas morning because I was so excited. It was the best mile ever, and put me on quite the runner’s high. Unfortunately it’s the last mile for a little while longer.
Shortly after finishing up our gifts, my parents and Matt arrived. They didn’t want to open their gifts at home without me, and knew I would miss the whole morning (Christmas is kind of a big thing at their house ) so they brought the presents to us! Best. parents. ever. Every one of us were happy with our gifts!
Few things I got to note: Brooks running hat that has a slot for a pony tail in the back, a few 1/4 zip running tops (definitely wanted those) some non slip headbands, winter running headband, watch, and some other misc. things. Aaron was so excited with his tool set, and Benny loved his new house my parent’s gave him. Matt was hidden behind me but had asked for donations to different charities, so he mainly got that, and a few tops and other things. My mom’s big gift was a coat, and I got her a pedometer, and dumbbells (loved giving her those!). My dad asked for tools, and received them in plenty. Now we are just hoping for a fast recovery on his arm so he can use them!
I made amazing cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and my mom brought a sausage and egg casserole. I have been making my Grampa’s cinnamon rolls for years, and they would never turn out. This year, I found the secret, and these babies were monstrous and delicious!
After wrapping up breakfast at home, we relaxed a bit, and then headed to Aaron’s parent’s house before making our way to my parent’s for our big Christmas celebration. We had so many appetizers it was unreal! Of course I dug in to all the dips, and had two plates full of my favorites.
Christmas was amazing, and I loved every second of it. The day went by so fast, and wish we could relive it. Oddly enough, our start to the day began with us locking ourselves out of the house! Never has this happened, and we weren’t sure what we would do. Thankfully (well, not so much) one window was unlocked, and Aaron crawled through it! Hahah Totally made my day.
Yes this Christmas was a bit different waking up with only Aaron and Benny, but it was so great to have our own little family. We were able to experience the day with everyone, and were blessed with family to spend it with.
