I want to start doing fitness recaps at the end of the week, mostly because I love reading others to find new workouts and thought it would be nice to share them with everyone and hold me accountable, too. Oh, and this is a healthy living blog including fitness, too
This week, the fitness front has been a struggle. I’m not someone who will workout just so I can eat a cookie, nor am I someone who will workout because I have to. I genuinely enjoy it, and love how I feel after a workout. Last night, I was out with some of our friends, and my friend Brittany asked me if I worked out on my honeymoon. I replied no (more on that in a later post!) and she said she was so proud of me. And you know what? I was really proud of myself, too. Though I felt like I was huge by the end of the week, and my energy wasn’t as high as usual, it really is a huge accomplishment for me to not workout. Funny, she even remembered my New Years resolution was to not workout everyday. I’m succeeding, by the way.
Back to my fitness struggles. I have yet to join a gym by my new house, and didn’t belong to one at my parent’s house. They had all the equipment I needed in the basement, and I got in fantastic workouts down there. So, I’ve been heading back there to get my workouts in this week, but it’s just not the same. When I am there, I don’t want to be working out; I’d rather be hanging out with my mom or family. Or, I am thinking of a million things that need done at our house (truth be told, that’s half the reason I would work out because I needed time to myself and to not be doing things at the house! haha). I got in some runs around my new house, which is on the top of a hill. I am used to running on flat surfaces, and there are monstrous hills everywhere around my new house! Long, and steep. It has brought back my shin splints, and made a 25 minute run feel like I ran a half marathon.
I am trying to make the most out of my workouts, and get whatever I can in. If I only have time for a short run, I tackle the hills in my neighborhood. If I have a longer workout or want to wake up early, I will head to my parents to get that in. I really don’t know what I will be doing in the future, or if I will join a gym, but I am going to just play it by ear each week, I suppose. I am in the process of making my 10 mile run training schedule, which will give me something to train for, too
I actually just got back from a 6 mile run. It is the longest run I’ve done in a while. Most of my runs are on the treadmill with it being broke up for strength training. It’s one of my favorite ways to get a great workout in, and I’ve run over 6 miles doing those, but not consecutively. My run was actually an accident. I headed out for a 4-5 mile run. I reached 2 miles and thought I’d just run to a hill I knew was coming up. Well, I got there and it was 2.94! Sure I felt pretty tired near the end, but it felt great to get out there and be able to do it!
Now I am off to go on the boat with Aaron and I think siblings! We have a party to go to later on tonight, and we are heading back out on the boat tomorrow. The weather seems to be nice this weekend, which is a plus! We’ve been having 70 degree cloudy days and lots of rain. Our summer has been the worst on the weather front!
