Happy Sunday! I hope you enjoyed the extra hour of sleep if you participate in Daylight Savings.
Meals and Fitness Recap: Taper Week!
Sunday: In Laws for Dinner
Monday: Stuffed Tilapia
Tuesday: Chicken Wraps
Thursday: Life Group
Friday: Chicken Enchiladas
Sunday: rest day
Monday: 2 Bodysculpting classes (I’ll be sharing the workout on Tuesday!)
Tuesday: I headed to the trail for a 6 mile run. I literally made it 0.08 miles and my legs were just not moving. I was running close to 11 minute miles and they felt as heavy as could be. I honestly never thought this would happen, but I did run 10 miles Saturday, followed by teaching two classes yesterday. I suppose that might have made it rough. I intend to take off quite some time from running after my race, so to run 10 on Saturday, I should have expected it. I did come home and a little later hopped on the treadmill and made it 3 slow miles, mostly to just shake my legs out.
Wednesday: Someone in my class requested a pure cardio workout, so that’s what I did! It was a hard workout but they crushed it and loved it!
Before we got all hot and sweaty
Thursday: 8×800 repeats. Brutal. I did not want to do this. I wanted to wake up early and get it done on the treadmill, but I was already super sore from Wednesday night, so I laid in bed contemplating it until it was too late to do it, haha. I went right after school. It was a cool, crisp day, but that’s how it goes sometimes. I had everything ready and didn’t even give myself a chance to say no. I took off and did a half mile warm up, then 8x800s. My GPS was not working, and had me running .34 miles in 4:38, which was a lie, so I shut it off to save battery. I knew the park was 2 miles down and back, so I guesstimated the half way mark (I’ve run it enough). Some might have been longer than 800 and some a bit shorter, but it all evened out. Though I wore the wrong attire for the temp (really my ears were just cold), I was very happy with this run! I pushed it for the 800s and felt great! (5 miles with warm up and cool down)
Friday: 7 mile run. My long run was supposed to be Saturday, but Aaron was going to do 9 so I thought I’d tag along for my 7. Ended up raining just as we were going, so he did 9 on the treadmill, and then I figured I might as well just do 7. It was hard as I wasn’t ready mentally for the treadmill, and I didn’t feel the best after my speed work yesterday, but it was my last long run and I am ready to take it back a notch!
Saturday: Rest day!
Next week is TAPER!! Like I said above, I’m ready to take my running down. Around 5 miles is my sweet spot, and I feel best when running around that mileage throughout the week. I know my legs will need a break next week, and given my runs have been feeling forced (which they are, but still!), I know I mentally need it. We do have The Color Run the following weekend, but that will be a nice easy pace!
