Hey Everyone! I’m Holly and I blog over at Eat Great BE Great. My blog centers around my passions for all things health and fitness related. I discuss fitness and healthy living tips, original recipes, my favorite food products, recipe reviews, my everyday life and much more. I hope you get the chance to stop by! 🙂
So, today I wanted to discuss an important topic — exercise and motivation. I’m an avid workout enthusiast (specifically Zumba) and have been for many years, but I’ve definitely had times when I’ve been caught in an exercise rut. I’ll either start to skip workouts or if I go ahead with my workout, I’ll be completely bored and unenthusiastic about what I’m doing.
We all have days where we’re tired and we just don’t want to work out. Trust me, I’ve certainly had my fair share of those days, but I remind myself about the importance of exercise and once I get myself going and finish the workout, I go through this amazing transformation where I feel so much better and have more energy.
So, before we get to some of my motivation secrets, I think it’s important to start off with an important question — Why is exercise good for you? Well, take a look…
And if that’s not enough, here are some other ideas to get you motivated:
- Work out with a friend.
- Join a group exercise class.
- Gets some new workout clothes.
- Exercise outdoors.
- If you’re not a fan of the gym, get some fun workout DVDs to do at home.
- Find motivation through fitness magazines or my personal favorite…Pinterest.
- Find a workout that you enjoy and look forward to doing.
- Do any type of physical activity that you enjoy like biking, hiking, walking, etc.
- Put on some fun dance music (an instant motivator in my opinion!).
- Remind yourself how good you feel after a workout.
Hey, lets face it, there are many things in life that we just don’t want to do, but exercise shouldn’t be one of them. It’s such an important part of living a healthy lifestyle, so find what works for you and do a workout that you enjoy to keep you out of that exercise rut. Don’t make excuses…JUST DO IT — you’ll feel so much better once you do!
Have you ever been in an exercise rut?
What are your tips and tricks to motivate yourself to exercise?
Thank you so much Holly for guest posting for me! I think motivation is something we all struggle with sometimes, but it’s just those first moments before we begin to love it!
