I’m a huge fan of making birthdays as long as possible. In fact, I wish I could have an entire birthday month. It’s nice to have days that are all about you, and to have friends checking in and asking how the day is going. Not to mention going out to eat, and celebrating with friends, or just enjoying time not doing the usual things.
My birthday this year fell on a Saturday, which is always a great day. Saturday’s are my favorite day of the week, hands down. They are usually the days I get a long run in, have an awesome breakfast with the husband, and have the whole day to do whatever we want. The only wrench in the plans, though, was that I had a bridal shower for a college friend three hours away. She’s one of my best friends from school, and I wouldn’t have missed it. Naturally, I made Aaron come along, haha. I figured if I was going to be gone for 10 hours on my birthday, I better at least have him for some company. Let’s start back at the beginning of the celebrations.
Aaron and I met up with some of my best friends Friday night. I haven’t seen them for a while as our schedules keep conflicting, but we made sure we were out celebrating my birthday! I started off by enjoying a White Russian (I know, so weird but I love it, ha) and we ended up getting some loaded fries for an appetizer! They are one of my favorite appetizers, wherever I go.
We left kind of on the early side, but had a full day ahead.
I woke up to Aaron’s alarm clock at 5:15. I thought he set it then just so he could have time to snooze, and I was not having it. Turns out, a few minutes later he got up and was heading for the kitchen. After making him tell me what he was doing, he was going to make me breakfast in bed before we left to start my birthday celebrations! I, however, told him to come back to bed because my shower was at 10 and was a breakfast shower, so I didn’t want anything huge. He agreed, and we slept until 6. After getting up and getting ready, I headed out to the kitchen and was greeted with this!
He decorated the house with 24 reasons he loved me, and homemade banners to wish me a happy birthday! I thought it was so sweet, and especially when I saw he had flowers, presents, and a card for me!
That was just the beginning of my surprises!
We were out the door by 6:30 and on our way to Morrisdale (I think) PA! It was actually a beautiful drive, complete with rolling hills, and a lot of different scenery.
While I went to the shower, Aaron hung out with her fiancé at an auction. They live in the country- something we are not used to, but love to visit. We have never been to an auction, and Aaron was really excited about it! I headed to the beautiful shower! It definitely fit her and the entire day was just perfect.
The bride to be and me!
I picked Aaron back up and we made our way home, where we picked up some delicious Gyros for lunch/dinner. Fun Fact, I love Gyros. I am incredibly picky, but I absolutely love these. We got them from My Big Fat Greek Gyro, and weren’t disappointed.
A few minutes later, Aaron surprised me with cupcakes! They were Funfetti cupcakes with Cookie Dough icing. Not only did he research the recipe, but he went out and bought all the ingredients and made it before I came home from work on Friday. That little sneak did a great job hiding them!
My mom stopped over on her way out to game night, and I met up with my dad later that evening for some Ice cream. We went to our favorite spot and enjoyed it immensely! Aaron and I finished up the day with a bit of shopping (just looking at different stores) and some Modern Family before falling asleep before 10 o clock. Perfect birthday to me!
The birthday celebrations continued when I woke up to Aaron making me breakfast! He made me cheesy eggs with salsa and bacon! It was delicious and a perfect way to continue my birthday!
We actually managed to get a lot done at home that we had been putting off. My to do list wasn’t one of them, but I went with the flow and ended up feeling more accomplished. Aaron and I enjoyed a beautiful run outside (50s and perfect weather) before tackling our garage and putting things away, and spray painting a wicker chair. The night ended with his mom bringing us over dinner for my birthday so I didn’t have to cook! I have such an amazing family!
And that, in a really long post, was my birthday weekend! It was everything I could have asked for, and was completely blown away with how special Aaron made it. He bought me my favorite candy (Watermelon pieces), some new tea to try along with a huge mug, two baskets for things in our room that I have been wanting, and a garbage disposal. Ha, that last one is pretty funny! It’s something I have been missing since I moved out of my parents, and he knew it would make me very happy, which I was!
Seriously, the mug is huge and I love it!
