I have been epic-ly failing at talking about food on this blog! I have been enjoying a variety of new food, but I keep forgetting to take pictures! Really, it ends up that I am starving at each point in the day so it all gets inhaled. Maybe next week I can participate in WIAW again! I did manage to take some pictures of dinner last night, so let’s talk about it… My dad took a weeks vacation this week to get some things done around the house and enjoy time at our family cottage this coming weekend. One of the favorite meals my family loves are my dad’s Crab Cakes and Shrimp Bisque, both beyond delicious. These are meals that only get made once, maybe twice a year because of the time commitment to both. Luckily, he really enjoys both as well, so he is more than happy to!
My dad’s crab cakes are so good that no one in my family can order crab cakes when out a restaurant. Without a doubt, my dad’s are better. There have been many times, mostly when at the beach, I crave a crab cake, and it seems to be the only thing jumping out at me on a menu. It’s always the fact that they aren’t my dad’s that keep me from ordering them, as I have learned my lesson.
And with a dinner that good, you definitely need dessert!
On Tuesday night, my dad informed me that there was a large bag of M&Msin the pantry downstairs waiting to be used in my chocolate chip cookies. Apparently I missed that memo! I thought they were just there to tempt me… Well, with a request for some baking, how could I say no! They made all the men in my life quite happy. Matt has been moping around our house every night this week complaining we have no cookies or baked goods. I guess I had to make up for it sometime! Who knows what he will do when I move out! He might be knocking on my door!
My fitness this week has been a little on the low side. On Monday, I woke up to my alarm, quickly decided I didn’t want to, and reset it so I had enough time to lift. When that alarm went off, I dismissed it again and re-set it for enough time for a HIIT. In the end, I kept on snoozing, and regretted it through the day. I know I shouldn’t, but I always regret working out. I know when I need a day off, and don’t regret those, but Monday I was just being lazy. I tried to make up for it after school, but the motivation was no where. I rode my moms bike outside for 13 minutes before realizing I was bored. I did manage to get an arm workout in, lots of plank work, and my push-up workout in, so that was a plus. How about Tuesday? This one should make you laugh. I woke up to go for a run in the park; and with that, came no motivation. Managed to get dressed and head downstairs, where I still had no motivation. I got in my car and drove to the park, debating the entire time what I should do. Don’t get me wrong, my body didn’t hurt, I was awake, I just didn’t want to do it. So, I made it almost to the park, and then turned around, went home, crawled back in bed, and waited for my alarm to go off an hour later. Pretty pathetic, right?
I forced myself to get up on Wednesday morning. I spent lots of time on Tuesday researching the Tone It Up Bikini Series. I had signed up for it, but then it started when Best Body Bootcamp was going on, and I didn’t want to, nor have the time, to figure out how to make them both work. I decided I would start over from the first week and try some of the workouts because they work for so many people, and are always a challenge! I’m loosely following the workouts, while still incorporating running and abs. Even with no motivation, I did this 45 minute elliptical workout, plank and core workout before work. I was a sweat machine, but It felt really good! I did the strength portion after school, and it was an arm burner!
Where my motivation has gone remains a mystery. I’m just hoping it comes back soon! I have a sneaky suspicion that a lovely friend of mine might be the culprit, but not too sure about that! Regardless, I am excited to try all of the new TIU workouts from the Bikini Series!
Well this post sure was long and rambly! Sorry about that! Enjoy your day! Come back this afternoon because I have another post coming up that speaks volumes!
