While on my run on Tuesday, I stareted thinking about my perfect run, and what it would include. To start with, you need to know I am someone who does not like to be cold, ever. I will avoid the cold at all costs, and I am heavily bundled up during the winter! I could be walking to the mailbox, and I have gloves, a scarf, heavy jacket, and a hat on. It’s 20 feet away. Whatever, I am still a baby when it comes to being cold!
Being cold all the time means I don’t run outside in the winter. I run for the fun of it; sure, I enjoy the calories that I do burn while running, but mostly I just enjoy the run. When I have to fight to catch my breath, cough until I am basically losing a lung when i stop, and have ear aches from the cold on my ears, I will not run. Basically, I’m not as dedicated as all the other runners out there and I’m ok with it!
Yep, not gonna run in this!
Now is the time where I run outside and flat out enjoy it. This is when my perfect running weather has arrived, and I take it all in! Here’s what I think makes a great run:
- 60-65 degrees
- Slight wind in the air, but not too bad. Just enough to cool me off when I need it most.
- A mix of sun and clouds. I love being warm, which happens when the sun is on me, but at the same time, I don’t want to be roasting because of it! It is nice when clouds come by and also cool me off.
- Warm mornings When these temps arrive in the morning, it is perfect to me! I love to get my runs done in the morning, and hate when the high is 65 but not until 5 that night. No thanks, I don’t run at that time.
- Seeing signs of spring and summer. I love running and seeing kids play on the playground, flowers popping up, hockey games going on. It makes me so happy to see kids still loving the outside.
