After finishing up with lunch, we quickly took a taxi back to our hotel (we were far away and the subway was a little inconvenient), changed our clothes and were off.
The weather on Saturday was beyond beautiful. We had the mid 60s and sunny skis. We couldn’t have wished for much better.
We explored the Ice Skating Rink, along with Radiocity Music hall.
I actually wasn’t feeling so great as I had very little nutrients (live and learn, eh?) so we made a stop to Jamba Juice first. Um, life changing. I wish we had one of these around! Actually, I don’t because they are expensive, but still, I loved it! I had a berry smoothie with raspberries, strawberries, bananas, and blueberries with freshly squeezed orange juice. I raved about this smoothie all day, haha.
We finally made it to Central park, and all I can say is wow. I have toured it before, but only on a horse drawn carriage- and in the winter. We took out time walking all over, and I would have loved to be able to run that. I did bring some clothes to run, but we had already walked so much and I knew a run wouldn’t have been the best to do. Just having Central Park to run in is incredible, and I immediately became jealous of all the runners.
We didn’t mind, and we took in the sights. People played music all over, lots of people were out playing games in the grass, or running, or exploring like us! We loved Central Park.
After finishing up at Central Park, and practically not making it back to our hotel because we were so exhausted, we took a quick cat nap (seriously, 30 minutes) before getting ready for our date night!
Lenny made reservations for us at Bar Americain. It was very sweet, and is actually Bobby Flay’s restaurant (or one of them).
However, after sitting down and looking over the menu, I couldn’t find anything I would eat. I know, I’m ridiculous and too picky, but when food is quite expensive, and nothing catches your eye, spending it is just a waste. I told Aaron I would order something to hold me over and then find something “New York Style” later, but he couldn’t enjoy his meal with me not really eating, but is used to me being picky. Ha. So we moved on to another restaurant, got right in, sat down, and the menu was not what we saw online (this time we did research!). So, we got up and left, ha. The third time was the charm. We found our way to The House of Brews, which is exactly my taste.
Aaron found a beer that he loves but isn’t on draft anywhere around us, we ordered delicious nachos, I had chicken sliders, and he had a Guiness stew. It was perfect for me. Yes, fancy restaurants are very nice, but I really just like to have dinner out with Aaron, and I don’t really care where it is.
Since I was all dressed up and it got cold, fast, we headed back and changed, again. (If you’re counting, this is the 4th outfit I wore all day, haha!). We really didn’t have plans after, but wanted to just relax, take our time, and explore Times Square. That, we did! We went to a few stores, and then I wanted to try some cupcakes. I found Crumbs bake shop which wasn’t too far away, so we went on over. We got a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough cupcake, and a Cookies n Cream cupcake. I think because it was late at night, they weren’t so fresh. However, we polished both off.
Across the street was the Cake Boss bakery! The line was incredible but we went in just to check things out.
We decided to just keep walking, after making a stop at Starbucks for some tea and espresso (they are onevery corner!) and made our way to Macy’s, But it was closed, ha. Then we went to the Manhatten Mall, but that was closed, too. Apparently only Times Square stays open until all hours, where the other streets close down. We were fairly close, though, and after seeing the Empire State Building all lit up, we went on over. We didn’t have a chance to go up in it, and just checked it out from the bottom floor. All I could think of was Buddy the Elf going in looking for his dad, haha.
And that, my friends, ended our Saturday! Only one more day (and recap!) left. I am sorry it’s taking so long but there is just too much to leave out!
Have you ever been to Central Park?
Have you ever experienced Jamba Juice?
I have a feeling I’m the little lost one here, haha. But seriously, I loved it!
