HOW have 6 months passed? It’s crazy talk, but he has just been the most perfect addition to our family. Let’s check in on this past month.
Nolan is rolling into 6-9 month clothes. He’s 19 lb, 27 1/4 in, and perfect all over. His 3-6 month clothes fit around, they are just too short for his long arms and legs.
Nolan wears size 2 diapers. He also still receives Zantac 3 times a day for reflux.
This month, Nolan became rolly-polly-olly. He has been rolling back to belly since he was 3 months. He rolled belly to back a few times, but he was better at just doing supermans while on his belly. He began to actually hate tummy time because he was so frustrated. BUT! He started rolling over at the beginning of November from belly to back, and now he just rolls all over.
He has started trying to scoot himself forward, and does well going backward on his belly. Just the other night he was sitting and was scooting himself towards me. Nolan loves standing, and has been sitting up unsupported since Halloween! It’s so nice to just put him down and let him play with what he wants. Then he can roll over and get to other toys.
Nolan officially passed Physical Therapy at the beginning of November! His torticollis is basically nonexistent and I’m so proud of him for sticking through it and happy to not have that appt. anymore.
The biggest change this month was that we officially stopped swaddling him. He was in the Love to Dream Swaddle Up and he could roll over and prop himself up, so I kept delaying it and coming up with excuses. I finally pulled the trigger and did one arm for 2 nights, and he was unphased. He actually loves sleeping on his side so this has been great, and he loves rubbing his bear blanket. Nolan also has become a belly sleeper sometimes, which is adorable.
Nolan eats 5oz every four hours, and dropped a feed. He eats around 7ish, 11ish, 3ish, and then bedtime (anytime from 7:15-8). He is on formula. Recently (like the past week), I started putting 1/2 tsp of rice cereal per oz in his bottle because it was my last effort at his spit up, and it has worked sooo amazingly.
We started solids last month, but now he gets them basically 3 times a day. He likes sweet potatoes, apples, prunes, prune/butternut squash/apple, butternut squash, bananas, and sometimes green beans with applesauce. He’s not a huge fan of green beans, or carrots, but I keep trying.
He also likes Puffs if you put one in his mouth, ha. He can’t figure out how to get them from his finger to his mouth, lol. He has taken a liking to Mum Mum crackers, and has gotten quite good at them. I’m eager to start baby led weaning like we did with Annabelle. Truthfully we gave Annabelle very little solid puree and focused more on real food when she could handle it, but Nolan’s reflux just made him want the solids even more.
Nolan naps 3 times a day. At the beginning of the month, he was up for about 1.75 hours between morning and first nap, and increased 5ish minutes each awake time, and was up between 2-2.5 hours before bed. Recently, he’s been doing about 2 hours before his first nap, 2.5 hours before 2nd nap (usually his longest but sometimes he needs rocked during this because he can’t get back to sleep and is upset), and then 2/2.5 hours before his last nap. I wake him up by 3 from his second nap, and his third is usually 5-5:30, but depending on other naps can be anytime from 4:30-6.
Sooo Daylight savings totally screwed us, Ugh! Still not better. He goes to bed anytime from 7:45-8:15. We start bedtime routine around 7:15/7:30 though. He used to sleep until 7:30/8, and he now wakes up more often than not at 6:30. I can’t figure out how to get him to sleep later. He doesn’t go to bed any earlier, and a few times I’ve tried it, it’s led to more awakenings. So yeah, that could be better. He stays in his crib until 7, and then we start our day, but I’d love to get him back to 7 o clock waking up.
Nolan has been sick the entire past month. Actually, the past 6 weeks. I think he had a day when he wasn’t sick. He had a cold, then cough, then back to cold, then ear infection, then Roseola with a 102.7 fever spike right after we got home from the doctor. His rash was pretty terrible, worse than when A had it, but thankfully was gone in a few days. Then he was healthy for a day, and got another cold and cough. I don’t understand. But, he’s generally still a very happy dude, but with some fussiness if mom and dad aren’t around.
