Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a great weekend. It’s time to look back at my week of organizing and see how I did! Make sure you looked at last week!
February 8: Deep clean sinks, mirrors, and appliances.
Success! I loved wiping everything down and seeing the difference it all makes. Some of my mirrors really needed it and I am determined to keep up with it!
There were a lot of mirrors, sinks, and appliances, ha, so I will just show you one mirror.
February 9: Clean out my car.
Unfortunately this had to be pushed back. It snowed all day long on Sunday, and I was not able to stand outside to do this, ha! However, I managed to start tackling other areas in my house. I went to pick up some things in the guest room, then that turned into the office closet, then the hall closet. Huge successes!
February 10: Organize under the kitchen sink.
I have a lot of products that I don’t use. We also have a thousand kitchen towels, but most are awful. Not sure where they came from, but we only have like 3 or 4 that can actually dry things. We had a huge collection of holiday towels and wash cloths, too, so I put those in a bag and tucked those away. We don’t need them in the kitchen all year long!
February 11: Clean guest room closet.
Before: Bags all over the ground, things tossed in, game boards just thrown on top.. no organization.
After: Probably should have touched on the clothes, but I wasn’t worried about that, ha. I packed all the bags into the top big, or another luggage bag hiding in the corner. The games are stacked. The bin on the left has all my flip flops carefully put in. I also moved my shoes into the closet. I had a bookshelf with them on it in the guest room, and on the side of the bed were all my boots. It was ridiculous and I hated seeing the mess every time I walked in. Now, my boots are stuffed in the corner to the left in the closet (it’s a bigger space than it looks!) and my other shoes are on a shelf. Some didn’t fit and those are hanging on the door. It makes me so happy to see a guest room not full of stuff!
February 12: Go through all mail and coupons.
So, I have a confession. We have mail in stacks all over. There is an organizer in the kitchen that has some, but mostly pizza coupons (we’ve ordered pizza twice since we got married, but I digress…) and random papers. Then, there’s a bin in my office with a bunch of mismatched mail. And a magazine holder that has my coupons in it. Things were getting a little crazy!
After: Doesn’t it just scream organized?! No? Oh, must be me.. ha The envelopes popping out of the organizer are bills so I remember to pay them If they don’t stick up, I forget they are there.
February 13: Organize the lazy Susan.
Things were just thrown in and spun around. No one saw it so it wasn’t a huge issue, but it still needed some help.
After: The best part is now we can open the lazy susan without things falling out behind it or getting caught!
February 14: Clean the couches. Vacuum them, lift up the cushions.
We actually do this a lot when we vacuum, so they weren’t too bad.
PS Yes, this picture is from last night. We decorated for Snowman Season (after Christmas decorations came down, snowmen went up). However, we took down everything last night so those Snowmen pillows are gone. I’m so over the cold and snow, haha.
Now if you excuse me, I’m off to clean our hardwood floors (which we have all over the house!) with Murphy’s oil. Yep, on my hands and knees. Nope, I don’t want to do it, but the Swiffer only works for so long!
Hope you all have a great day! We have a few errands to get out and do and then are heading to the hospital to see my dad! There’s a chance he will be able to come home tomorrow, and we are really hoping that happens!
