Hi friends! I wanted to pop in and share our Halloween adventures. Truth be told, the plans for this year were quite different. But, things happen and work trips come up, and we still had a lot of fun.
Gingerbread House Making:
A few weeks ago, I found a Chocolate Chip cookie making kit at Trader Joes. I knew it’d be fun, so before Aaron left for work, we made it. A was so proud of it! She had a blast and it turned out really well. I’m hoping they have a Christmas Gingerbread house one because it was so easy to make!
South Hills Village Trick or Treat:
The local mall up the road has trick or treating, and we went last year. It was a fun time, even though it was crowded, but I knew I wanted to take A. She was Moana, obviously. My mom graciously stayed with Nolan so I could go with just Annabelle. She loved eating lollipops and getting candy with her cousins.
Library Trick or Treating:
I signed A up for this right away, but really had no idea what it’d be. Turns out the library was closed and they had volunteers from all over the town come to hand out candy. Police, Boy Scouts, some Early Intervention locations, gyms, and more. There were games and lots of crafts to make. My mom came with us which allowed one to handle the toddler and one take the baby A really loved it! By the end she was finally saying Trick or Treat. I also loved Nolan’s costume! I made it myself but he was Hei Hei from Moana. He was the cutest chicken I’ve ever seen!
Trick or Treating:
After weeks of the weather being in the 70s, it dropped fast. Halloween night was in the 40s. My MIL had gotten A a butterfly costume, but it was after we had gotten our other costume so we didn’t know if we’d have a chance to wear it. However, Moana would have been totally covered up, so I was able to put pants and a coat on A under her costume and she was a butterfly! Nolan was just a cute boy all nice and warm in his outfit and hat. We went to my SIl’s house and it was so fun to trick or treat with my nephews!
What we were going to be: Aaron loves going all out on costumes, and given we usually have numerous Halloween activities, we planned quite a bit. For some activities, we were going to be the Daniel Tiger family because A loves it. Nolan was going to be Tigee, A was Daniel, and we were mom and dad. Then our main was going to be Moana. Aaron was going to be Maui, A was Moana, Nolan was Hei Hei, and I was going to be the grandma. Our stroller was going to be the ship and it was going to be fantastic.
But then Aaron found out he’d be gone for every single Halloween event. I felt so bad for him because he loves this holiday, and truthfully, I don’t like it at all! ha But regardless, it was still a really fun time! Now… onto Thanksgiving and Christmas!
