A pink and gold first birthday party with touches of pumpkin all around.
One can never predict the weather in October, so with a too small house for 100 people, we rented a cottage at a local park to have Annabelle’s birthday party. We lucked our and had mid 70s on Saturday and it was the most perfect day to celebrate my little girl turning one!
Annabelle’s real birthday was Friday, but Saturday was close enough to celebrate. The party started at 4, which sort of collided with naps, so we pushed them up a bit and woke her. She was fashionably late, but everyone else was just on time and the day was off to a great start.
I won’t lie and say I threw this together in a short amount of time, because I most certainly did not. I thought hard about what I wanted the party to look like and worked to make that happen. We had appetizers and dinner, desserts, alcoholic beverages, along with hot apple cider, coffee, and tea. There was plenty of water and pop to go around, and no one went hungry. We had activities for kids, a huge playground outside, and a bounce house. In total, we had about 90 attend (maybe a little more) and about 15 or so were kids, so having an activity for them was huge on my list.
I’ll let the pictures do the talking, but we had a blast celebrating the day! Annabelle was definitely overwhelmed with everyone, but she did great and we were so proud.
Unpictured, but I’ll share. We had Dino Chicken Nuggets (which were a huge hit!), rigatoni, pulled pork, hash brown casserole, coleslaw, Japanese coleslaw, Jello pretzel salad, regular salad, and rolls.
The kids favors were pumpkins, which I had set up to paint. There were also Styrofoam pumpkins and stickers to decorate them with, along with coloring pages and crayons. The kids loved it! We also had a huge playground outside and a bounce house.

Photobooth and Cake Smash:
Shelby set up a photobooth, complete with tons of props. A little after dinner, we all headed in to sing happy birthday and then have the cake smash. Annabelle sure loves cake!
After I taught at the gym, we started opening presents (almost an entire day affair!), built her tricycle, took it on a walk, ate leftovers for dinner (story of the next week ), cleaned the house, and tried to relax! As much as I love throwing parties, it basically consumes my life and now it’s time to get my life in order!
If you made it this far, God bless you! haha
