Before I was even engaged, I knew exactly what songs I wanted to dance to at my wedding. I knew what song my dad and I would one day dance to, and I had another song in mind that I hoped Aaron would agree to. While planning our wedding, Aaron asked what our first dance song would be, and I told him what I wanted, When You Say Nothing At All, by Ronan Keating. You know what he said? His words were, “Done.” Though he had never heard this song, he told me if it meant that much to me, and I really wanted it, then he wanted it, too. His mom chose their song, which was “The Biggest Fan” by The Backstreet Boys. At first, I thought she was crazy, but it was a beautiful song.
Weddings can be so different from one to the next, which made our schedule even crazier. We didn’t want to waste time before dinner, knowing our guests (and us!) would be hungry, but still wanted everyone to be there for us when we started our dancing. We eventually decided to cut the cake before dinner, and then start the dancing after. Aaron and his mom were first, followed by my dad and I, where my dad handed me off to Aaron for our first dance. It was all beautiful, and I treasured all of those minutes. I really loved how we set this up, because having us end the dances allowed us to open the dance floor for everyone! Within seconds of us finishing and inviting guests up, we had a packed dance floor, and it stayed that way until 11:00, when it was, sadly, over.
This is one of my favorites. It is kind of hard to tell since this is small, but it looks like I have a pimple beside my lips. At first I thought that was weird they didn’t photoshop it, until I zoomed it. It is actually a lone tear falling down my face. I absolutely love it.
This was just the start to how amazing our reception was.
