Thank you, thank you, thank you all for your congratulatory remarks on our news yesterday! I am so thrilled to finally share this great news with you all, and share what’s been going on!
When Julie announced her pregnancy, I loved the pregnancy questionnaire she shared after. I’ve been waiting to share all these fun details with everyone, so it might be a bit pregnancy heavy in the next few days, but then it will mellow out.
Pregnancy Details//Finding Out
**How did you find out?
I took a test by myself, actually. Aaron was out of town and I had thought the night before I would test in the morning. I heard the first morning bathroom stop was the best, so when I woke up needing to go at 7 am, I decided to test, honestly thinking nothing about it. I waited the 3 minutes, went to look, and there was a positive. I was a ball of nerves- and Aaron was flying across the world so I obviously couldn’t talk to him—so I took another. Well, that one turned positive, too, but I still didn’t believe it. I threw on clothes, jumped in my car and drove to Walgreens for a Name Brand real test. When that turned positive, I knew it was true but still had a hard time believing it. I think I laid in bed for hours just thinking about all that was to come.
** How did you tell Aaron?
Since he was currently on his way back from Japan, I knew I wanted to do something fun for him. I decided to enlist Benson and make him a little surprise gift box to open when I picked him up that night. That day, I was picking up Susie and her husband to stay with us, so I knew I needed something that I could take with me to the airport and give to him. I ended up making a sign for Benson to take a picture with, bought a baby blanket, and a stuffed animal, and wrapped it all up with the pregnancy tests.
After picking Aaron up, I took him to the extended parking lot and just told him I had something I wanted to give him but didn’t want to do it at the house (nothing against Susie!). He had no idea what it was, but opened it. He just said “No way. Are you serious?” when he opened it. Being that he was gone for 2 weeks, he had never thought about it, but I was back here thinking about it every day!
**What were your first pregnancy symptoms?
I had been really tired and sluggish in the afternoons at work the previous week. I also was going to the bathroom a lot more than usual before I tested. These both continued on! Only last week did my all-too-frequent bathroom breaks end. It’s pretty hard to go every 5 minutes when you’re teaching all day! I was glad to see those days pass.
**What was your first reaction to your pregnancy?
As noticed above, complete disbelief. I was sure it couldn’t happen this month!
**How far along were you when you found out?
Since I’m the most impatient person you’ll meet, I was 4 weeks, 4 days
I can assure you the belly isn’t flat like that anymore!
**How did your parents/family react?
So, Aaron and I decided a while ago we were going to keep it a secret. It was nothing against anyone else, but we honestly wanted the time to digest the news and just have it between us. We knew we’d have plenty of time for people’s opinions and such, so we honestly didn’t tell our parents (and my brother), until after our first appointment at 9 1/2 weeks. It was a hard secret to keep!
**How did you tell your friends?
We had a lot of people we told in person, so I will share in a post what I did for all of them. I tried to be creative and come up with something fun. Some figured it out, and some were shocked.
October 13, 2015.
**Will you find out the sex ahead of time?
Yes! There is no way I could wait. I’m way too much of a planner for that surprise.
**Do you have any feelings about whether you’re having a boy or a girl?
Because Aaron is one of five boys, and his brother has two boys, I want to say yes. However, I haven’t been nauseous and all the ladies I know who had girls or are having them haven’t been either. So, I’m torn.
We have a few girl names we like, but cannot come up with a boys name! We’ve honestly tried so hard. Hopefully if it’s a boy, it won’t be nameless for too long
**How long were you trying?
We were very fortunate that this was the second month we tried.
**How many ultrasounds have you had?
None! Oh my gosh I would have loved to see our baby on the screen. Unfortunately, my practice doesn’t do an ultrasound until we find out the sex at 18 weeks.
**Who do you think the baby will look like?
Aaron has pretty dominant features, so I think it will look like him! I can’t say I’m mad about it. He’s pretty cute
**Do you want more than one?
Yep. I would like to have three kids!
**Have you felt the baby move?
Nope- it’s too early still to feel him/her.
**Will you be sharing weekly pregnancy updates on the blog?
Yes. It’s going to be a huge part of my life, and I want to share it. I actually love reading other ladies’ posts. I am not sure when I’ll be posting them and if it’ll be on the same day or what, but I hope you all come read! I am not turning this into a pregnancy blog at all, but it’s been hard enough to hide the past 13 weeks that I won’t be hiding it anymore, either.
I’ll finish up with the rest of the questions tomorrow This was getting a bit too long to continue and I don’t want to bore you on this fantastic Thursday!
