Hi everyone! I promise I’m trying to get through all the early pregnancy things and then it won’t be the full focus on the blog! I had my 14 week appointment on Monday and everything was great! Heard the heartbeat again and schedule the ultrasound to find out boy or girl! May 14 can’t come fast enough We are also having a gender reveal party that weekend so I’m in full party planning mode. The next few weekends are packed!
Alright, back to Baby Brown.
Before there was anything!
I had every intention to start writing weekly blog updates starting when I found out I was pregnant. However, that didn’t happen. I mentioned this to Aaron a couple weeks ago, and said I was just too tired to do it, and he laughed and said, “Well, that pretty much sums it up!” I thought I’d go back and share weeks 1-10 together. Basically, it’s weeks 4-10 😉 And it’s basically what I remember, ha!
Baby went from being the size of a poppy seed to the size of a prune! He/she has a heart beating, eyes formed, stomach and kidneys are kicking into gear. Baby has gone from being an embryo to being a fetus!
To be honest, I’m not sure. I don’t have a positive idea of what I weighed before I got pregnant, and when I stepped on the scale at my first appointment, I was extremely bloated so I know that wasn’t really accurate either. I’m going to just started counting it from this point.
I have been so fortunate to continue working out throughout pregnancy. I have still been teaching two nights a week, though my Tuesday night class is incredibly difficult. I’m not sure if it will get easier in the second trimester, but all the HIIT moves are rough. Not to mention no one knew I was pregnant, so they didn’t know why I was struggling, haha. I had two weeks where no one came, and I was so excited! Nights are rough for me in general, so having to go teach just added to it.
I started training for the half marathon during week 9. My runs were rough in earlier weeks, because I get sick in the afternoon, but too tired to wake up in the morning. I talked about training for the half the other day, but I just can’t say enough how fortunate I am to continue running and workout out. I know I am extremely blessed!
My biggest symptoms were larger breasts, strongest cravings ever, sickness come in the afternoon lasting through the evening, exhaustion, and lack of sleep. I joke that since Aaron came back from Japan, I got his jet lag, but it was true. I went from being able to sleep at night to being awake for hours throughout the night. This was the roughest part for me so far. I miss my sleep! It did get better towards the end of week 10, but it’s still not great. Oh, and did I mention frequent peeing? I am a peeing machine. Honestly, I can go, and go again in 5 minutes. It’s been great while teaching!
Funny I thought I had a bump at this point. It was total bloat. #Fail
This has changed throughout. It went from oatmeal, to veggies (but I’m definitely not a huge fan to begin with), to wheat pretzels. I have been able to tolerate veggies the past few weeks, but not really throughout these weeks. A huge one that I didn’t expect was tea. I love my tea!
I joke that it’s everything bad for me, but those are really my cravings. I want everything I never eat, which is so weird! I’ve had two strong ice cream cravings, to where we’ve stopped at McDonalds for Cookies n Cream McFlurry’s. Strange, though, I only really needed a bite. I get full pretty fast. We’ve eaten at Eat n Park, gotten Danny’s hoagies (huge staple for South Hills of Pittsburgh), burgers, meat in general, carbs. I ate Egg sandwiches every day for the first multiple weeks. I needed one daily, whether it was in the morning or night. Around week 8, though, I stopped liking those.
Definitely something there! Still not sure if it’s baby or bloat.
Not existent. I’m thinking of buying the Snoogle. (edited to add: I did buy it and it has made a huge difference!). I didn’t necessarily go to bed super early every night, though some nights I wanted to, but it was more me being exhausted on the couch. I had no energy at all and couldn’t do anything.
Looking Forward To…
Hearing the heartbeat at week 12!
I’m going with boy. Perhaps it’s because Aaron is one of 5 boys, and his brother has two boys, but I just feel like it will be a boy.
Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases?
Sports bras. Most of my clothes were actually larger before I was pregnant, so they started fitting. The bras were the same way, but sports bras were not the same. I think I bought 2 during week 10, and then one during week 11. I needed more support when teaching and running.
Can you see the exhaustion in me? PS That’s a real baby bump growing!
Any Fun Stories?
We told our parents during week 9. My parents were totally shocked, and so were his parents. I shared those stories yesterday. Anyway, Aaron’s mom has been stopping over once or twice a week to clean and tidy up our house. It’s been the biggest blessing. She knows I just have had no time to do it, and Aaron definitely has picked up the slack, but she just knows how much I appreciate those little things. She usually brings over some food, too. For many weeks she would bring over things she knew Aaron liked just because things that may sound good during the day just didn’t at night. I was able to find something to eat every night, but I just never knew what it would be until right before dinner!
Definitely happy and blessed for this baby. It’s still beyond surreal, though, and I don’t think it will get more real until I have a bump and start feeling him/her. I am feeling lazy most days. I know there’s nothing I can do about it, but it’s definitely not like me to just be laying on the couch unable to do anything. I’ll take it, though, for a healthy little baby!
We could not be more thankful for our bundle of joy coming our way! I’m already so in love!
