Wahooo! My race is TOMORROW! I am slightly nervous, but pretty excited. I am heading to pick up my packet today, and get everything ready for tomorrow. I do have a Halloween party tonight, but I made sure my costume pants would be compression leggings, and I would get the proper dinner beforehand. Obviously I’m not staying out too late, but the race doesn’t begin until 9, and we have daylight savings time tonight!
I’ve spent the past 10 weeks training for the Pittsburgh EQT 10 Miler. This is the first time it is happening in Pittsburgh, so I’m not really sure what to expect. It follows a similar route to the half marathon I ran last year, except it goes in the opposite direction. I have been really trying to think of my goals for this race. I didn’t want to put too much pressure on myself, but I also want to try my best. Here’s what I came up with.
Race Day Goals:
1. Finish (always a good one, right?) under 1:30. I feel confident that I can do this. I ran 10 miles 2 weeks ago and finished in 1:24. However, it’s supposed to be cold and windy, and if I have to use a porta john, there goes some time, ha!
2. Run the entire thing.
3. Enjoy the sights around town. I failed to pay much attention to my surroundings during the half, but I want to enjoy this race.
4. Not start off too fast.
5. Finish strong.
I think all of these goals are pretty reasonable. Of course I would be ok with having a time longer than 1:30, because that means I still finished, but you need some challenging goals, right? Aaron will be down there cheering me on, and I believe Matt and my mom. Both of them coming depends on how my dad is doing, so I am absolutely ok with one of them staying home. All in all, I’m ready to see how my training prepared me and get out there and do my favorite thing!
