It’s December! One of my favorite months of the year, as I’m sure it’s everyone else’s too. We have so many fun things planned, and I can’t wait to celebrate with the little ones. We’ve actually already started the Christmas celebrations, which has been so fun for Annabelle.
This week has been a bit on the rough side as I woke up Tuesday sick to my stomach and down and out. Thankfully my mom was here to watch the kids because I was supposed to work. Wednesday I seemed fine until after dinner and then was downhill again. Yesterday I was fine stomach wise, but THEN got a cold and couldn’t stop sneezing. But it’s all okay. Looking back on the week, it was full of a lot of fun, minus these little inconveniences. At least now I can take medicine!
My aunt knew of this store in Sharon, PA, that is known for it’s Christmas decorations and set up. We went with my mom, aunt and grandma, and then Jenn and her kids and mom. Annabelle adores Madison, so it was fun to see them together. But, then it came time to sit on Santa’s lap and let’s just say that didn’t go well, again, this year. Maybe one year…
I”m not sure where the fall weather was during fall but it’s been fall this past week after an encounter with winter temps for a little. Yesterday, I threw on my new running shoes to get the kids out of the house and we did a few miles around the hilly neighborhood.
This isn’t necessarily a favorite, ha, but I figured I’d share it. Annabelle has been saying she doesn’t want diapers for a few weeks, and would go on the potty here and there. Well, Sunday she said it and I said okay, let’s try it. She’s done pretty well, but I will say I have no idea what I’m doing. I haven’t read a thing. I don’t have tips. I’m just going with it. I do think she’s a bit on the early side to potty train, but we’ll see how it goes. She’s had a few accidents, but has started stopping and running to the potty. I’m not sure she grasps the feeling of when she needs to go without just starting to go, but I’m giving it a whirl. She has pooped on the potty every day, so there’s that!
The “I just tinkled” smile
How did we get Annabelle to poop on the potty? Well, bribery. We started watching The Grinch one night when it was on TV for a few minutes, and she kept talking about it. I told her she had to poop on the potty to watch it and she has every day, so we’ve watched like 15 min before bed each night. Whatever works!
Aaron’s Holiday Party:
Aaron’s work holiday party was yesterday so I met him after the kid’s naps to hang out down there. Aaron works for the government, which means no cell phones or visits, so no one really knows anyone’s kids. Any chance I get to bring the kids around, I go because I know he loves showing them off in person!
Community Light Up Night:
I heard of our town’s light up night and figured we’d go check it out. It started at 6:45, but gosh it was PACKED by then. We made it in, Annabelle made reindeer food, we had some cookies and hot chocolate, and listened to the choir before the tree was lit. I was a bit let down because I thought it’d be this big thing outside, but it was a tree lit inside, haha. THEN, Santa appeared. GUYS! Annabelle was so afraid. She was beside herself seeing him just come in. Kranyaks scarred her (and in her defense, he was mean and scary looking there!). I did take her up to see him from afar after it ended and talked to her about how he brings presents and how all the children were lined up to sit on his lap. We have been really talking him up because we have breakfast with Santa on Sunday. EEEK!
It makes my day when Annabelle wants to be like me, whether it’s working out like mommy (my fav), nail painting, or wearing matching outfits. I did her nails like mine on Sunday, and she was sooo excited! I hope that never changes. I know it will, but I’m going to tell myself it’s not going to, lol.
Have a great weekend!
