As I mentioned last week, we headed out to the mountains for a little getaway with our friends. We didn’t have major plans for the weekend, but just relax and escape the reality of our everyday lives. Just a few days of not worrying about the to do list at home. We all need those, right?
We left early Saturday morning and carpooled with two of our friends, Justin and Becky. The ride was going great, until I forgot to tell Aaron to get off the exit, and we were on the turnpike. Whoops! We had to go an extra 20 miles, but ended up only being about a half hour later after going through Somerset. No big deal, but completely hilarious when I told the other ones I knew where we were going. Needless to say, no one is trusting me anymore
Our destination was Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Seven Springs is a huge destination for skiing and snowboarding during the winter months. In fact, Aaron and I have stayed there a few times to enjoy the outdoors. This time, though, the weather was drastically different and it was almost summer, with the temperatures in the 70s; perfect for hanging out.
Our friend Amy’s grandma owns a condo at the villages in Seven Springs. We weren’t sure what to expect, and were grateful for anything, but it was fantastic!
Saturday was spent exploring the area around, relaxing with everyone, and hanging out at the pool. The boys had a blast playing a lot of sports! First up was basketball, then volleyball, and plenty of corn hole later.
While the boys played away, the girls hung out at the pool chatting away. The time flew by in the blink of an eye. It was an absolutely perfect day with lots of sunshine, and high in the 70s. If it was hotter, we would have been toast. The boys, of course, took advantage of the pool and went in, but it was too cold for us.
After the pool, we all played some games of Corn Hole before cooking dinner (more on that Wednesday!).
We were all hit with a bit of a tired spell so we headed down to the resort to find some coffee. There was hardly anything open, but Amy and Aaron found some coffee and then we took in the sights. After seeing it all when it is winter, it’s crazy to think this is the same thing! Some snow was still present on one mountain, actually!
Us girls chatted away through the night. It was just like a slumber party in middle school; so fun! The boys were still playing games, and then had a fire. We eventually made it to bed, much later than we are ever used to. We spent Sunday making breakfast, taking a walk, and watching some more games of CanJam be played before heading home. We had such a fun time, and couldn’t thank Amy enough for the getaway! Unfortunately, we had to come home to reality and get ready for another week. Benson welcomed us home and we spent the night finishing up things needed for this week, and baking some muffins. These have quickly become our favorite muffins (quick and healthy!) and I can’t wait to share the recipe with you!
