Helloooo and happy Monday! How is everyone feeling today? Hope you were able to rest up this weekend, or at least tire yourself out doing awesome things!
Though we had another crazy busy weekend, it was marvelous indeed! Plenty of family, friends, and unexpected relaxation!
In case you missed my posts this weekend, feel free to catch up!
I had the day off, which was much appreciated. After getting a workout in, my mom came over to help me pull weeds in the yard. Clearly that became my mom pulling weeds, and me quitting. I am seriously so bad at pulling them, so I gave up! Haha I went around and picked up the piles of weeds she pulled.
While she was doing that, I baked some chocolate chip cookies for our party later that evening, and also Banana Protein Muffins that are so delicious! I didn’t have the sugar it called for, so I substituted regular sugar. It actually made 15 muffins, and I was really curious after making them how many calories and protein in them. Turns out, there are 7 grams of protein and only 73 calories in each one! You better believe bananas are on my counter ripening so I can make more!
After finishing my baking, and eating dinner, I headed out to meet my mom’s side of the family at a new restaurant called Rum Fish Grille. I had checked out the menu beforehand, but didn’t like any of the food on it, which is why I ate beforehand. Knowing I had plans that evening, I decided just to go and see everyone, and stick around for a drink or two. This restaurant has a huge outdoor area, and it was packed! There were about 12 of us, I think, so getting a table took about an hour and a half. I pretty much stayed long enough to chat with everyone hanging around the bar, and then I left right as they headed to the table! It was perfect, though, to catch up with my family!
After leaving there, and making a quick stop at Kohl’s, I headed to our friend’s house for a party, where Aaron already was. His birthday was last week, but it was a fun get together to celebrate now!
I, of course, was exhausted, so I headed home around 11, and couldn’t wait to get to sleep!
I awoke feeling very refreshed, and headed off to complete my run. After some meal planning, and a trip to the grocery store, I headed to one of my best friend’s engagement party! I am so excited for their wedding, but have to wait two years for it! Ahh gonna kill me lol It was so amazing, though. Lots of great food, and beautiful pictures of them all around! You could tell they were really in love with each other.
Lucky for me, I had a few hours to relax when I came home before heading out to meet more friends! This time, Aaron joined. He was at the Pirate game with my aunt and boy cousins (it was a guy thing!) all afternoon. We headed to The Clubhouse, which I’ve talked about many times before, and is always a great time!
After a night of tossing and turning (more like sweating and then freezing. Geez, Pittsburgh, make up your mind with the weather!), I woke up and knew what I was going to make for breakfast. While shopping yesterday, I saw pancake mix, and picked some up. I have tried time and time again to make protein pancakes, and yes they do work and imitate pancakes. But, you all have to agree with me that there is really no substitute for real pancakes. So, that’s exactly what I made yesterday morning! In fact, I served them to Aaron in bed, and then crawled back in bed to eat mine!
I tried switching it up, and made some with brown sugar and cinnamon (the one on the left). It was good, but you couldn’t really taste it, so I would probably stick to cinnamon in the future and not brown sugar.
I was probably tossing and turning all night because I was so excited for yesterday morning! Caitlin came over to my house to catch up and chat! We went to Starbucks last time, and we were going to do the same this time, but my house was like 5 minutes away from there. I figured sitting and catching up on a couch would be comfier! It’s always the best time getting to see her. Do you think I remembered to get a picture? Nope. Darn blogger fail. Anyway, two hours flew by and I was sad to see her go.
We were supposed to head to the boat all afternoon, but the weather decided to change. What was supposed to be 80 and sunny, was instead 30% rain and high 73. Terrible summer, I tell ya! I decided to do some major meal prep, and even made Danica’s Peanut Butter Granola for Aaron! It was man approved! However, he said it was chewy, so I guess next time it needs cooked longer? I don’t like peanut butter, and he wasn’t home, so I had no taste tester to see if it was done, lol.
Packed up for his snacks this week!
Our weekend ended by having both of our families over for dinner! It was so fun to hang out with everyone together, and enjoy plenty of food and dessert! We had Chicken Pesto Pasta, Garlic Bread, Salad. We also had Pumpkin Bars (recipe to come!), brownies, and Cookie Dough ice cream for dessert!
If anyone is counting, yes, I had all three desserts I firmly believe in living life and not restricting what I eat. I didn’t eat all of the pumpkin cake, but it was because I was full! If I restrict myself, I only end up craving it more!
What a great weekend, it was! Next weekend is a pretty empty weekend for me, and I am quite excited for it! Haha Enjoy your Monday!
