Yep. Finally did it. And I wasn’t ready for it! Oops!
I knew this day was coming. We’ve talked about it for months but never got around to pulling the plug. I wanted to be sure we had another internet provider set up (we had FIOS and never had good internet) before we quit FIOS. You know, so I can keep in contact with all of you
Between schedules, we finally found out Sunday would work (in the middle of mulching!) for Comcast to come out. Little did I know that when they replaced our internet, we lost our cable and internet from FIOS already! Imagine my shock as I still had a full DVR of programs I hadn’t gotten around to!
So how is it?
It’s obviously only been a few days, but some things are definitely different. I always listened to the news while getting ready in our room, which I can’t do. I do miss that. With our new internet, we do get a few basic cable channels (basically the news channels) and I do get to watch Good Morning America while eating breakfast in the family room, which makes me happy.
The weirdest part is not coming home from school and immediately reaching for the remote. I always went straight to a DVR’ed show, but can’t do that.
It’ll take some time, but I really do think this is going to be nice!
What will we do?
Believe me, we won’t be denied any television. We have a subscription to Netflix and we have my parent’s account login for Comcast to watch shows that we missed. We truthfully cut cable because it’ll save us almost $100 a month for basically no change. Sure we’ll miss a few amenities, but we watch the same few channels every day that it wasn’t making sense. We can actually watch Live HGTV from Comcast online, and with Netflix, we won’t be hurting for anything to watch if we need to.
With summer approaching, and the nights getting longer, we don’t sit down and watch it that much. I’m excited to pick up more books, relax a bit more outside, and not watch TV just because we can. I know many of you don’t have cable and survive, so I know we will too
