Hi guys; Happy Monday! How are you all today? Did you have a refreshing weekend?
My weekend was nothing short of packed. I didn’t even recap my workouts of plan a menu for this week. Here’s what’s been going on…
As you know, I am a teacher but due to the lack of teaching jobs in Western PA, I have been subbing for 3 years, with some long term jobs in the mix. Last Wednesday, out of the blue, the principal at one of the schools called and explained there was a teacher who had a medical emergency come up, and they wanted me to take over! It’s a 2nd grade position, and I’m very excited! It sounds like she will be out for the remainder of the year (so sad for her). It was just a lot thrown at me very fast. I tried to just keep my head above water on Friday when I started but I left very overwhelmed. The room just needs cleaned (aka things thrown out) and I did get a lot done on Friday! I’m eager to get in there and get started teaching this week. However, if you notice my absence on the blog front (writing, reading, commenting, sharing), I’m sure you will all understand! I have a lot of learning to do, and spent the majority of the weekend doing just that.
Friday night my mom hosted game night! She had so much food, but I was starving and therefore dug right in instead of taking a picture, ha. She had Broccoli and Cheese soup, taco croissant type food, broccoli cheddar braid, chips and dips, cookies and pumpkin bars, and Caeser salad. It was all delicious!
Of course, we got to hang out with sweet little Madison who is growing up so fast. Honestly, I can’t believe how much she changes every time I see her. We played a game of Guesstures and had fun! I didn’t get home and get to bed until after midnight, which was a bit rough! ha
Saturday morning we were supposed to run the Color Run. However, with me feeling totally unprepared for this job, I needed to get things done. I was stressing out Friday night about learning the curriculums and planning for this week. I also still have a sore hamstring from last week, and it was 20 degrees outside. As much as I love the Color Run, I didn’t want to stand outside in the cold waiting for it to begin like we did last week. With that in mind, I decided not to run it. Huge bummer, but it’s life.
After spending the morning figuring out lessons, Pinning things like crazy, and reading through manuals, Aaron and I were off to a wedding! His cousin, Amy, got married at the Lemont Restaurant in Mt. Washington. It was all totally beautiful. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
Amy lost her dad a few years ago, so she had a dance with her mom, which was so sweet.
Sunday morning was church and then I had lunch with my dad! We went to TGIFridays, and while the company was great, my food was just ok. I ordered the Parmasean crusted Chicken, with a side of Mac and Cheese, and broccoli. The broccoli was not fully cooked, and the chicken wasn’t the best. But, what are ya gonna do! Ha I enjoyed my time with my dad, though!
I spent the rest of the day with Aaron outside getting our Christmas decorations up! It was the warmest day we’ve had and will be having so we went out to conquer it! Don’t worry- we aren’t turning them on until after Thanksgiving! My house is a total mess with decorations everywhere and I’m hoping to work through them this week!
Whew, sorry for so much info thrown at you!
What did you do this weekend?
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed?
I’ll take any tips
