Hi friends. Hope you are stopping by feeling refreshed after a great weekend. Ours was filled with highs, and some lows.
Annabelle went to have a sleepover with my parents on Friday night. She practically ran out of the house shouting “Bye mom, bye dad” as she marched to the car. While I certainly loved that she loves going there, a part of me wished she was at least a little bit sad, ha! She had such a great time over there and played with a lot of young kids next door to my moms. She loves kids so this was really fun for her. Aaron and I didn’t really know what to do with ourselves with extra time! Aaron had a hockey game, and after he left for that and Nolan woke up from his last nap, I took him on his first run! I don’t have a double jogging stroller, so I’ve never had the chance to just go running with him. It wasn’t long, but he loved it! Smiled so much.
Saturday morning, I got in a workout while my little dude watched. Then, Aaron met my mom for Annabelle’s soccer practice. Right after he left, though, Nolan woke up and wasn’t going back to sleep, so I also went to see her practice. Sadly, she was really tired (I guess all the playing last night caught up with her!) so she wasn’t as great as she was last week. There’s always next week!
We came home and chilled since we could tell she needed to just rest. After nap time, we decided to go apple picking… except we never made it. About 5ish minutes from our house, we got in an accident. Aaron stopped and the car behind didn’t see he stopped in time and rear-ended us. Thankfully everyone was okay, but I was so scared about the kids! Nolan cried but calmed down quickly, and Annabelle seemed unphased (which is actually really weird). Aaron hurt his back and my neck is still quite sore, but it could have been worse. I was very scared and shaken up just knowing our babies were in the back! The paramedics came to just check everything out and couldn’t see any reason why we should take the kids to the hospital, but we kept a close eye on them all weekend. By the time all that happened, we just didn’t get to apple picking. I’m just glad it wasn’t any worse ! I did feel bad for the other driver- he was a senior at a local high school and it was totally an accident. But, now we have the annoying process of getting new car seats and getting the car taken care of. It’s all okay, though.
So yeah.. Saturday night was just eh. We ordered hoagies from a neighbor selling them for band so we ate those, Annabelle and I took a walk, we had ice cream as a family, and then I drank a big ‘ol glass of wine once the kids went down! I was also really tired so I hit the bed really early.
And yes, Annabelle definitely tried to give Nolan some.
Sunday included church (though I watched it at home instead of wearing him in the Ergo through the whole service), grocery shopping, muffin making, Steeler watching, and a date with my girl to the park. We were planning on the boat, but the Steelers were still playing and such so we didn’t do it and Aaron hung home to finish the game, so it was just me and Annabelle. We played in the sand and splashed in the splash pad for over an hour. So fun!
