Today, we’re talking yogurt, specifically Greek Yogurt. If you recall, I have only recently started enjoying Greek yogurt again. I used to eat strawberry Greek yogurt every day for lunch, but when one went bad and I ate it, things went sour (literally). When I heard Yoplait was having a taste-off between Yoplait Greek 100 Strawberry and Chobani Simply 100 Strawberry, I was all about it.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed when going to a store to pick out yogurt; any one flavor has about 10 brands carrying it, and then there’s the light version, the 100 calorie version, the full fat version, etc. Who knows what the best kind is! The only thing left to do is to try them out, and taste test, so that’s what we did.
I picked up both Yoplait and Chobani strawberry yogurt, as I find both of them beside each other at the store. Chobani is the yogurt I used to use, but in a national taste test, Yoplait® Greek 100 Strawberry beat Chobani® Simply 100™ Strawberry, so I needed to see for myself!

For this taste test, I took it to the family, and being that I would be with a lot of my family last weekend, I knew it was the right time. Each person was blindfolded and fed the yogurt without knowing which brand they were eating. I wanted honest opinions, and I knew they would give it to me. Most of them were skeptical that four of out five people prefer the Yoplait yogurt compared to Chobani, and they wanted to see, too!
Up First: Rachael. Yoplait: 1 Chobani: 0
Each person held the brand they chose before they knew what they chose. The options were “Yogurt 1” or “Yogurt 2” (and were mixed up with every person!)
Heather Yoplait: 2 Chobani: 0
Aric Yoplait: 3 Chobani: 0
Andrew Yoplait: 4 Chobani: 0
Aaron Yoplait: 4 Chobani: 1
Alex Yoplait: 5 Chobani: 1
It was crazy to see how many people went for the Yoplait. It’s not a brand we typically buy as Chobani is usually given all the hype. In fact, three of my in laws who tasted, and ultimately chose Yoplait, said they were loyal Chobani fans before starting, and thought it would be crazy that Yoplait would be better.
When Rachael tried the yogurt, she mentioned that she chose Yoplait because it was creamy and there was more of a strawberry taste to it. I thought the same thing, but Aaron chose Chobani because he didn’t like the strong strawberry taste.
As with most things, it comes down to personal preference. Some yogurt has a strong smell to it, deterring me from being able to stomach it. Yoplait was the perfect blend of strawberry and yogurt, and creamy enough to remind us of regular yogurt, instead of being super thick like some Greek yogurts.
In the end, Yoplait did win the Taste off for us, with five out of six choosing Yoplait over Chobani.
I’ve taken the Yoplait Taste-Off, not it’s your turn! Let me know who won your taste off!
