If there could ever be a time when the days fly by, but the weeks go slow, this would be it. I swear each day has been a whirlwind, full of giddy children excited for the holiday (okay, a giddy teacher, too!) but trying to wrap up loose ends before the kids are gone for 16 days!
Honestly, I’m a little sad I haven’t been able to really enjoy the holidays. Last night was the first night in well over a week that I didn’t have to go out anywhere, but of course there was plenty to do. Between commitments, teaching my classes as well as subbing for others, and various other parties, each night has been packed full. So, with tea in hand, I finished up wrapping presents, and got my life a little bit more in order last night, and I feel so much better!
My weekend is packed, again. Don’t get me wrong; I am not complaining about any of this. I am so lucky to be in a job I love, doing what I love, and with some great people. I’m thankful for all my family and the time spent with them. I’m happy I have friends to celebrate with. But! Sometimes it can just be a bit much and I can feel myself getting overwhelmed with everything, and it can be hard to turn down events.
Yesterday, I woke up to go running, like I do every Tuesday and Thursday. I went in the bathroom, changed, and literally could not wake up! My eyes would just not open and my body said forget it. I ended up climbing back into bed! ha Its times like that that you need to remember what is more important, and sleep won. Tomorrow is our girls day with my aunt, complete with pedicures, manicures, facials, and a massage. I cannot wait! I’m very excited, and I think it’s just what I need to set my break off right.
Surprisingly, I’ve kept up with some pretty delicious dinners! We had sweet potato nachos one night, and Tortilla Soup another. Mmm.
….And we balanced it out with some Dominos last night… #Don’tjudge
On the agenda today is to enjoy the day with the students, celebrate Matt’s birthday at my parents, and just relax. I truly think I am done shopping, done wrapping, and ready to embrace it all!
