Day 4: Tuesday
I decided to skip the run today. I just felt like my legs needed a break, and I was fine with that! I didn’t sleep in too much, but knew I could sleep at the beach! A little while later, my mom asked if I wanted to join her on a bike ride, so of course I did! I am so not used to flat land, and thought the end of the road was about 3 miles earlier than it was. Needless to say, I was dying, haha. When we turned around, it was such a breeze to get back!
Around 10, I headed to the beach, but it was quite cold. The high was only in the high 70s, but at the time it was quite cloudy, and very windy. When the sun came out, it was very nice, but not all the time. We made the most of it, and still got a tan!
While everyone else got ready to go eat, Aaron and I got all ready for our photoshoot! Like I mentioned, Matt’s girlfriend, Shelby, wanted to add some photos to her portfolio, and we had a great time! She took gorgeous shots! I’ll share a few soon! I don’t have them all, though. We finished the night with some pizza, and called it a night earlier since we’d been up late for a few nights.
Day 5: Wednesday
Today was picture day! Before some of the family had to leave later, and Matt and Shelby took a trip to Williamsburg, we were up early to get some family photos! Not everyone was happy, but we were able to start our day on the beach at a great time. The weather was gorgeous! It was already hot, and we had a little breeze, but not too much.
Around lunchtime, I started to get an itch to go for a run. I was going to wait until dinner time, but the clouds had come in and it wasn’t that hot, so I decided to go for it. After taking Aaron at too fast of a pace, he stopped at 2 miles and I went on to make it a 5K.
The rest of the afternoon was spent at the beach and pool. We enjoyed some hula hoop entertainment, especially from my uncles who can’t hula hoop to save their life! We had appetizers of shrimp, cheese, and pepperoni, and relished in the fact we didn’t have anywhere we needed to be.
We even played Corn Hole with my grandma!
After a dinner of tacos, we all made our way back outside to enjoy fireworks on the beach! My uncle bought them, and my cousin set them off. It was a fantastic show! We finished the night playing some games outside!
Day 6: Thursday
I woke up to get a workout in! Instead of running, I took it to the squats, lunges, and plyometric exercises. I wanted to give my legs a break from running. We had a great day at the beach, followed by a nice dinner out. Some family members went to an all you can eat seafood restaurant, Captain George’s, some went to Blue Pete’s, some to Red Robin, and Aaron, Shelby, and I went to Virginia Beach to find somewhere to eat. We ended up at Luna Sea and were really impressed. It was a small restaurant, and we sat outside. We enjoyed Margherita Nachos for an appetizer, with both meat and chicken, topped with beans, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. We ended up being quite hungry, making them perfect.
For dinner, Aaron ordered Honey Chicken Burrito, which was fantastic. I had a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, only eating half, but was excited about it. The French Fries weren’t so good, but I didn’t want them anyway. Shelby ordered a Spinach and Goat Cheese salad, and was equally as happy with her order.
Matt met up with us after dinner and we walked around the boardwalk and a few stores until we stopped for some Frozen Yogurt. Mmm! Sweet Frog was the winner.
We called it a night after, came back home, hung out with the family while playing LCR, and chatted.
Day 6: Friday, The last day
I had great plans to get in a fantastic run. I was really looking forward to tackling a 6 mile loop up the road and back. Unfortunately, I awoke at 6 am with extreme stomach pains. I was up for a while, before finally falling asleep for a few minutes. Needless to say, I didn’t get a run in. I did start feeling better, but no where near perfect.
The weather was overcast, drizzling, and quite chilly (again, perfect for running!) making it a blah kind of day. I didn’t feel well for quite a few hours, and we just spent the day lounging around inside and packing up to go home. We did go to a souvenir store, but I ended up really not feeling well so I continued to take it easy.
We ended up deciding to leave at 10:00pm. It was such an awful night, and we just wanted to get home. Of course, we had the Beer Olympics we needed to attend to on Saturday. Because we were just hanging out and did just about nothing on Friday, we packed the cars and headed out. Our family thought we weren’t so smart, but they were awake so we went for it. My mom would never have driven through the torrential downpour we drove through if Matt wasn’t the car in front that she had to follow.
We made it home around 6:15; it was a longer trip, but that was due to the rain. Aaron and I made it home at 7 and snoozed away. We had a fantastic trip! It was very fun to be with the entire family together in a house. I highly recommend Virginia Beach, also!
