Happy Tuesday, all! I hope everyone is off to a great start in the week. Before we get off to an excellent workout, I want you to think of something.
You might be thinking I sound crazy and that why would anyone regret their summer. But, I promise I have a reasoning. How many of you have ever cringed being invited to multiple cookouts a weekend? Or to have ice cream dates? You might cringe because you are worried about eating all of that while not ruining everything you have worked for. I’ve been there, and done that, but why? Have you ever ruined your results? Have you ever said at the end of the summer you wished you didn’t do all that stuff? Probably not. On the flip side, how many of you have missed out on these opportunities to regret them later on? I know I have. It’s a silly thing that we are worried about eating out or making sure we eat healthy meals all summer. Summer is about living. I have done a much better job the past few years at going with the flow, but I’m still working on it. I don’t want to even have thoughts about food I “shouldn’t” eat. I hope you eat cookies this summer. I hope you go out for ice cream, or frozen yogurt, a lot. I hope you go out for a drink with friends on a patio at a restaurant. I hope you stay up late chatting with girl friends. I hope you stay out too late having fun, sleep in and skip a workout because of it. I hope you forget about crazy food rules. I just hope you live.
With that being said, we still need to remember everything is key in moderation. I’m not saying to do everything listed above in one weekend, but spread it out. You’ve been working hard this past winter and you deserve a bit of a break! Don’t throw everything you’ve worked towards out the window, though. Something simple to make sure you keep on track is to remember to stay active. Start the day with a workout so you don’t say no to plans that were made through the day because you haven’t worked out, and need to that day. Keep up with your workouts and you will feel great! Don’t over indulge for all the meals. Maybe a few days you do. Oh well, move on. Don’t dwell in the past. If you have control, start the day with a great breakfast and you know you stuck to what you usually eat.
Now that I have you ready for to workout, here’s a perfect one for you! It takes about a half hour, which is perfect to start your day. It doesn’t look like a killer, but I was a dripping mess after it!
This week we are focusing on a ladder workout! I forgot how much I love these kinds of workouts. With this, you will start with 10 reps of the first exercise (burpees) and 1 of the second (v-ups). Next, you will do 9 reps of the burpees and 2 v-sits until you reach 1 burpee and 10 v-ups. Start over with the squats and push ups. 10 squats, 1 push up, 9 squats, 2 push ups. Do the same with the Jump Squats and bicep curl to shoulder press.
This will get your heart rate up and you will be sweating by the end! It’s short and effective!
How are you going to live your summer?
What silly rule holds you back in life?
I know the eating after dinner one always got me. I’ve learned to just go with it and eat if I want to. Most times, that’s the only extra time I can make sure I eat enough for the day.
