I started sharing our Christmas on Monday, and today I’m going to finish. Sorry for the double posts, but with so much packed in, I need to share! I’m also linking up with Jen for some WIAW since we had lots of great food!
After a short nap on Christmas day, Aaron and I made our way to my parents. They host Christmas for my mom’s side of the family every year. We had so many great appetizers. This doesn’t even share them all! We had Swedish meatballs, buffalo chicken dip, pepperoni dip, shrimp, cookies, bacon wrapped scallops, stuffed mushrooms, and wings. Mmm.
We spent our time with the family, opening up lots of presents!
Even Miss Madison got to open up her gift from us! We bought her the Learning Teddy Bear, which she LOVED! It’s heart lights up, and has many different options such as singing songs, talking about body parts, and talking.
Our dinner consisted of turkey, corn, stuffing, rolls, and green beans. We all finished the night feeling full, and counting our blessings.
The Day After Christmas
As I mentioned last year, my dad’s side of the family celebrates Christmas the day after. It’s always been that way, so that everyone can celebrate with their families on Christmas day, too. This year, my aunt Anne and Uncle Tim were the lovely hosts. We missed many of our family members, but we know they were there in spirit.
We enjoyed delicious appetizers such as Hanky Panks, chicken dip, various cheese and crackers, veggies and hummus, and some fruit. Our dinner was ham, prime rib, fried chicken, cheesy potatoes, Mac and Cheese, and two salads. We had one salad with blue cheese and strawberries, and the other had raspberries and goat cheese. This dinner was way more my style than Christmas dinner, and I left feeling very full!
After our dinner. we started the annual grab bag exchange! You are only entered into grab bag if you are 1) married or 2) 25 or older. This was my second year in it, and my cousin Erin has had me both years! I received leggings and a top from Victoria’s Secret, along with some soap and body spray. I had my cousin Kristy, and I gifted her an outfit from Fabletics! She wasn’t able to come in this year for Christmas, but she said she loved it!
The night ended with Happy Birthday to Baby Jesus and catching up with the family. Aaron and I were more than ready for some time at home for the weekend. It was actually out first weekend since before Thanksgiving that we had nothing going on. My BIL, SIL, and nephew stopped over Saturday, where we played outside for hours with the temps in the 60s, and finished off the weekend being completely lazy. We both needed that, and neither of us regretted it!
I hope you all have a fun, and safe, New Years Eve tonight!
What are your plans for tonight?
If you could choose your favorite dinner, what would it be?
I think mine would be either something Italian, like lasagna or rigatoni, bread, and Caesar salad, or some kind of Mexican dinner, complete with nachos. Mmm.
