Two months ago, I wanted to paint our back porch white to liven it up.
Two months ago, we found out the wood holding up our house and the back porch was rotten.
It was the perfect opportunity to make our back into something we really wanted.
After many nights of planning and sketching, Aaron and I decided to make it a deck.
Aaron began really working on it the Friday before Memorial Day, May 23.
Since then, he has come home from work every night and gone straight to work until it got too dark.
He has spent every moment on the weekends, and his days off working on this deck.
He took off Thursday this past week, and we worked from 9 am-9:30 pm
Friday we were up at 8:30 until 7 pm.
Saturday we were out there at 8:30 and finished putting everything together at noon.
You guys, I couldn’t be any prouder of all that Aaron has done, and how much he has worked on it. I would have not had a clue how much work went into it. In fact, I thought you just put some wood up, but I was so wrong. When it takes 25 hours to put decking boards on a deck (there were 100 of them, by the way), you know it’s real. I am completely in love with how the deck turned out. I couldn’t have dreamed up a better vision. Here’s a bit of a progression of what things were, and what they ended up looking like!
and with furniture…
Thank you all for continuing to read about this deck! I know it seems silly, but when it consumed our lives for weeks, it was all I could talk about! haha Now you will just hear me talking about how much I love it! I am still in search of a few things to put on the deck, especially in the middle area, but for now it is absolutely perfect!
*The outdoor furniture, including cushions, pillows, and table, along with the swing and the green rug were all from Aldi Grocery Store. The round dinner table we had from last year and the grill was this year.
